Cain (forearm) was placed on the 15-day DL on Thursday, retroactive to Apr. 3, Andrew Baggarly of the Mercury News reports. This was expected after an MRI revealed that Cain has a strained flexor tendon, but the Giants officially made the move Tuesday and tabbed Chris Heston as their starter for Wednesday. A return for Cain on his earliest possible activation date (Apr. 18) is unlikely, with the right-hander expected to need a couple weeks at least to recover.
