Semien was among the White Sox's roster additions Tuesday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Semien saw a good amount of time in the White Sox's infield for the first several weeks of the season, but the club opted to recall Carlos Sanchez first when Gordon Beckham was traded last week. He should be in line for utility work for the season's final weeks.

White Sox prospect IF/OF Marcus Semien went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and three RBI on Sunday for Triple-A Charlotte. He also scored three runs and drew a walk in the game. Semien struggled last month after receiving a demotion to Triple-A, as the 23-year-old batted just .188/.292/.365 over 27 games. In July, however, Semien's bat has come alive to the tune of a .333/.429/.604 batting line, two home runs, seven doubles and 15 RBI through 12 games. He also has emerged as a super utility man, as he's seen time at numerous positions including second and third base, shortstop and left field. Expect Semien to return to the major leagues at some point during the second half of the season.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Monday that Marcus Semien will see some playing time in the outfield at Triple-A Charlotte. The White Sox are trying to increase the versatility of Semien, who was just optioned on Monday. The 23-year-old has never played the outfield since being drafted in 2011 but will no doubt be willing to do whatever is asked of him if it means a ticket back to the majors.

White Sox optioned INF Marcus Semien to Triple-A Charlotte. Semien got the boot Sunday to open up a 25-man roster spot for Jose Abreu, who was activated from the 15-day disabled list Monday afternoon. Semien was batting just .218/.287/.327 in 181 plate appearances this season as a backup at second and third base. He could get another try when there is more playing time available to him.

Marcus Semien delivered an RBI double with two outs in the 12th inning on Monday, breaking a 1-1 tie and leading the White Sox to a 3-1 victory over the Cubs. He finished the evening 2-for-5. The White Sox got a two-out rally started when Alexei Ramirez singled and stole second base and Tyler Flowers walked, setting the stage for Semien's run-scoring knock off Justin Grimm. While he's hitting just .220 on the season, Semien has had plenty of mixed league fantasy value with 19 runs scored, three homers, 16 RBI and three stolen bases.

Marcus Semien went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Friday's loss to the Indians. He also left five runners on base. The poor performance drops his season line to .218/.276/.355. Semien is currently filling in for the injured Conor Gillaspie, and could see significantly reduced playing time once he's healthy.

Marcus Semien went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in the White Sox' win over the Rays on Sunday. Semien also drove in a run with his seventh-inning double. The infielder is batting just .227 on the season, but he seems to come up with a big game just often enough to stay in the White Sox lineup. It will be interesting to see how the playing time shakes out when Conor Gillaspie returns.

Marcus Semien went 1-for-4 with a timely grand slam as the White Sox defeated the Tigers 6-4 on Wednesday. Semien's seventh-inning grand slam put the White Sox ahead 6-4, a lead they would hold on to for the final three innings. Semien hasn't been very reliable with the bat, but is on a four-game hitting streak with as many extra-base hits in that span. He'll have to keep it going in order to maintain playing time once Gordon Beckham is activated.

Marcus Semien went 4-for-6 with four RBI as the White Sox crushed the Rangers 16-2 on Sunday. Semien had four of the Sox' 18 hits and knocked in four of the team's 16 runs as they pounded Robbie Ross and the Rangers bullpen. Semien's big damage came on a bases-loaded triple in the sixth inning, his first triple of the year. Semien is talented but hasn't hit for a high average thus far, and his at-bats could be cut into when Gordon Beckham returns.

Marcus Semien continued his recent struggles in Friday's loss to the Rangers, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout. As a team, the White Sox managed just three hits off Martin Perez who was brilliant. Semien's run of usefulness may be coming to an end now that Gordon Beckham is nearing a return. He's hitting just .197/.260/.310 with two homers, five RBI and two stolen bases in 71 at-bats.
