Logan Morrison exploded against the Pirates on Friday, going 4-for-6 with a home run, double, three RBI and three runs scored in a 13-4 Marlins victory. Morrison's 19th home run of the season was just his second in 15 games since returning from the minor leagues. He had not delivered an extra-base hit in his past 11 contests. He'll take a .252/.333/.463 triple slash into play on Saturday.

According to Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman, Jack McKeon and the Marlins have come to a mutual agreement that "someone else will manage in 2012." There had been rumblings in recent days that McKeon may return in 2012, but that never seemed realistic considering McKeon will turn 81 on November 23. According to Heyman, McKeon will likely remain with the organization in some capacity. Since taking over for Edwin Rodriguez on June 20, McKeon has steered the Marlins to a 28-35 record.

Inserted right into the third spot in the order, Logan Morrison went 2-for-4 with a homer and two runs scored to help the Marlins beat the Reds 6-5 on Wednesday. Morrison homered in his second at-bat after his brief Triple-A exile. The Marlins did take him out for a defensive replacement at the end of the game, but he'll be a lineup fixture the rest of the way.

According to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com, Logan Morrison will return from Triple-A New Orleans on Wednesday. Morrison was sent down 10 days ago, so Wednesday is the first day he is eligible to return. The Marlins claimed they demoted the outspoken outfielder due to poor performance, so the timing is curious considering that he is batting just .167 (4-for-24) with one home run and five RBI during his time with the Zephyrs.

Logan Morrison (groin) is expected to return to Triple-A New Orleans' lineup on Friday. Great news for owners that have opted to hold on to the Marlins' would-be left fielder, as he should still be on track to rejoin the team when rosters are expanded in September. Morrison is 3-for-8 with a home run and two doubles since being demoted on August 13.

SI.com's Jon Heyman reports that Logan Morrison is not expected to file a grievance against the Marlins for his demotion. It looked like he had been leaning against doing so, and while we believe he does have a case, it's probably best for him just to move on. Morrison was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Saturday but should be back with the big club in a few weeks.

Jon Heyman of SI.com hears that Logan Morrison may decide not to file a grievance against the Marlins for his demotion. We have seen a lot of debate about whether Morrison's demotion was a result of his performance or something off the field, but it would be very difficult for the outspoken outfielder to win this battle. With the relationship seemingly crumbling between team and player, it wouldn't be shocking if he is shopped aggressively this winter.

Logan Morrison intends to speak with the player's union to see if he has grounds to file a grievance against the Marlins for optioning him to Triple-A New Orleans. "We are going to, with absolute certainty, explore this and contact the union and make sure Logan's rights are protected," said Fred Wray, Morrison's agent. "It doesn't seem like everything adds up here." Wes Helms was released at the same time that Morrison was demoted after advising the young outfielder not to attend a team-related function before Saturday's game. Florida claims both decisions were based on on-field performance, though Marlins GM Larry Beinfest essentially confirmed that Morrison was optioned for reasons other than performance, saying Morrison "needs to concentrate on all aspects of being a major leaguer." Morrison was batting .249 with 17 homers (second on the team) and 60 RBI (third).

Marlins GM Larry Beinfest said that while there is no timetable for Logan Morrison's return, he does expect the outfielder back this season. Morrison's demotion Saturday raised some eyebrows, as many felt he was optioned due to something he did off the field rather than his on-the-field performance. Beinfest basically confirmed as much, saying Morrison "needs to concentrate on all aspects of being a major leaguer." We have to believe this will eventually blow over, though the relationship between LoMo and the front office certainly doesn't appear to be in great shape right now.

Marlins optioned OF Logan Morrison to Triple-A New Orleans. Morrison has been stuck in a major slump since the All-Star break and will try to turn things around against a lower level of competition. He should be back in the major leagues after a week or two at Triple-A.
