Lobstein will start Tuesday's game against the Yankees, George Sipple of the Detroit Free Press reports.
With Justin Verlander (triceps) needing more time to recover, Lobstein has been confirmed as the Tuesday starter. Given that Verlander seems to have suffered a minor setback, Lobstein may even get another start Sunday against the Indians. The two-start week can't be counted on, but it's at least a possibility.

Lobstein will not make a start this weekend, but will be an option to start Tuesday if Justin Verlander (triceps) is unable to take the ball in that game, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
He was originally thought to be slated to take the ball Saturday, but the Tigers have an off day this week so they can work with a four-man rotation to buy some time in case Verlander is able to join the rotation next week. Verlander will throw a sim game Wednesday, which could be his final hurdle before making his 2015 debut Tuesday. If that happens, Lobstein's run in the Tigers' rotation would come to an end, for now.

Lobstein was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, MLive.com's James Schmehl reports.
With the Tigers determined Justin Verlander (triceps) would not be healthy enough to start the team's fifth game of the season Sunday against the Twins, Lobstein will tentatively step in to fill that spot in the rotation. Despite placing Verlander on the DL, it doesn't sound like the Tigers are concerned just yet that the right-hander will have to miss more than one start, so Lobstein's stay with the big club could be brief. Lobstein made seven appearances (six starts) with the Tigers last season, producing a 4.35 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over 39.1 innings.

Lobstein could be summoned from Triple-A Toledo if Justin Verlander (triceps) isn't ready to be activated from the disabled list as planned for an April 12 start against Cleveland.
Over four Grapefruit League appearances (three starts), Lobstein gave up four runs on nine hits over 10 innings while carrying a 7:6 K:BB. Last season, Lobstein racked up a 127:42 K:BB over 146 innings with just 10 homers allowed (4.07 ERA) as a member of the Mud Hens' rotation.

Lobstein was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
As expected, Lobstein will open his season in the minors, but he should be one of the top options if the Tigers need a fill-in starter.

Lobstein will open 2015 at Triple-A Toledo barring an injury to one of the Tigers' current projected starters, the Detroit Free Press reports.
One other factor to consider is the possible addition of James Shields via free agency, which would effectively bump Shane Greene or Alfredo Simon from the rotation and give the Tigers a more established veteran arm to handle the "sixth starter" role. This spring, Lobstein is focusing on his curveball, which he'll use to complement his three fastball offerings (two-seamer, four-seamer, and cutter).

Lobstein lost Monday against the White Sox as he pitched seven innings and allowed two runs, five hits and one walk to go along with five strikeouts.
Lobstein didn't get any run support Monday as he pitched well enough to earn a victory. He has a solid 3.38 ERA and 1.15 WHIP, but he doesn't provide a ton of strikeouts as he has 23 in 34.2 innings this season.

Lobstein will be bumped from his scheduled weekend start vs. the Royals and make his next turn Monday vs. the White Sox, MLB.com's Jason Beck reports.
With the Tigers trying to stave off the Royals for the AL Central crown, manager Brad Ausmus will look to maximize the usage of his top four starters. Thanks to an off day in the schedule Thursday, Rick Porcello will be able to stay on his normal rest and take the ball Sunday for his second start of the week.

Lobstein will remain in the Tigers' rotation and make his next start Saturday, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
A team off day Thursday would have given the Tigers an opportunity to shuffle their rotation, but it appears they will keep everyone on schedule at least another time through. Lobstein will take on the Indians on Saturday -- the same time he recorded 10 strikeouts against Sept. 2.

Lobstein turned in a solid 5.2 innings Sunday night against the Giants, allowing just one earned run on four hits and a couple of walks while striking out three en route to his first Major League victory.
After a 10-strikeout performance versus the Indians last time out, Lobstein came back down to Earth a bit in this outing. However, this effort was obviously quite strong as well and delivered a milestone for the young lefty. Now four starts into his MLB career, Lobstein has put together an impressive 2.78 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 22.2 innings.
