Lobstein hurled three scoreless frames Friday, furthering his cause for a spot in the Opening Day bullpen.
EDGE Analysis
The Pirates are enamored with his ability to throw multiple innings and the fact that he's a lefty also boosts his stock. Fellow southpaw Eric O'Flaherty represents his closest competition for the job, though O'Flaherty probably can't throw more than one inning at a time.

Lobstein could secure the final bullpen spot heading into Opening Day, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lobstein and Eric O'Flaherty are the two lefties behind Tony Watson and the team would like to take two southpaws north to Pittsburgh (though manager Clint Hurdle is on record as saying he'll take his seven best relievers, regardless throwing arm). Lobstein has the ability to throw multiple innings and he already is on the 40-man roster. He's given up one run in four innings, walking three while striking out four batters.

The Tigers traded Lobstein to the Pirates on Monday in exchange for cash considerations.
EDGE Analysis
Lobstein was designated for assignment by the Tigers last week, and the Pirates decided to scoop him up and give him a chance to show what he can do. Lobstein posted a dismal 5.94 ERA in 13 appearances, including 11 starts, for the Tigers last season.

Lobstein was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Lobstein was the casualty of the Tigers adding Mike Aviles to the roster Friday. Assuming he goes through waivers unclaimed, the 26-year-old southpaw will likely begin the 2016 campaign at Triple-A Toledo once again.

Lobstein took his eighth loss Monday to the Twins as he allowed six runs on seven hits and two walks and made it through just 1.1 innings. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Lobstein continues to struggle, as he has allowed at least five runs in each of his three starts since his return to the major leagues in September. Lobstein has a brutal 30:22 K:BB and has allowed 75 hits in his 59 innings in 2015. His ERA is up to 6.10.

Lobstein (3-7) allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six in 5.2 innings against the Rays on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
That's five straight losses for Lobstein, and he's given up five-plus runs thrice in that span. At least he was able to strike some batters out in this one -- the six actually represented his season high -- but that's not much of a silver lining on the thundercloud of Lobstein's season.

Lobstein allowed six runs on eight hits, walking two and striking out two while lasting just 4.1 innings in an 8-1 loss to Cleveland on Friday night.
EDGE Analysis
Lobstein (3-6, 5.02 ERA) was making his first start since May 24th when he went on the disabled list with a sore shoulder. While the results weren't very encouraging, some rust likely contributed. He may remain in the rotation for the final weeks of the season so the club can evaluate his health going forward, but his fantasy value has never been particularly high even at his best.

Lobstein (shoulder) was activated from the 60-day DL and will start Friday's game against the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
He had a 4.34 ERA in eight starts with the Tigers earlier this season, but he managed just 20 strikeouts in 47.2 innings, so the upside here is extremely limited. Lobstein could theoretically stick in the Tigers' rotation for the rest of the season.

Lobstein (shoulder) continues to receive daily treatment and there is no change in his status, reports MLive.com.
He received a cortisone shot June 13, but the soreness in his shoulder has not subsided. He has been on the disabled list since May 24 and looks to remain there for a while.

Lobstein (shoulder) received a cortisone shot Friday and will take the next few days off to see how he responds, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
The Tigers don't have a return timetable for Lobstein, who was placed on the DL with the sore throwing shoulder May 24. A recent MRI indicated that Lobstein was still experiencing some inflammation, but the Tigers are hopeful the cortisone shot will be enough to correct the issue.
