Lobstein surrendered two runs on five hits while striking out 10 and walking three over 5.1 innings in a no-decision against the Indians on Tuesday. The 10 whiffs were a nice way to make his case for remaining in the Tigers rotation beyond this start. If he does see another turn on the bump for Detroit, Lobstein would likely take the ball against San Francisco on Sunday or the Royals on Monday.

Lobstein will be recalled to start Tuesday against the Indians, MLB.com reports. Manager Brad Ausmus said that if Lobstein pitches well, he will likely remain in the rotation with left-hander Kyle Ryan slated to join the bullpen upon his return to the club. Anibal Sanchez (pectoral) remains without a timetable to resume throwing. Lobstein held the Yankees to two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk while failing to record a strikeout over six inning in his first career start last Thursday, after posting a 4.07 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 26 appearances (25 starts) with Triple-A Toledo.

Lobstein was very good in his second career start Thursday against New York, going six strong innings surrendering just one run on four hits and walk. Lobstein failed to record a strikeout, but kept the Tigers in the game as they went on to win it in walk-off fashion.

Lobstein will take the mound Thursday against the Yankees, Wallace Matthews of ESPN New York reports. In his major league debut Saturday, Lobstein gave up three runs on four hits and four walks to go with three strikeouts in 5.2 innings. At the very least, he should uphold his strikeout potential, as he posted a 7.83 K/9 at Triple-A Toledo this season.

Lobstein has been recalled by the Tigers, Matthew Mowery of the Oakland Press reports. Robbie Ray lasted just 1.1 innings in his start Friday night, taxing the Detroit bullpen in the process and creating the need for a fresh arm. Lobstein has delivered a 4.07 ERA and 1.479 WHIP over 26 appearances (25 starts) at Toledo this season.

Kyle Lobstein was tagged for five runs in three innings by the Blue Jays on Saturday. Lobstein and Jose Alvarez were supposed to be the Tigers' primary rotation alternatives at the beginning of the year. Now that Alvarez is gone to Anaheim, it'll almost definitely fall to Lobstein to start if any of Detroit's starters get hurt. He has a 7.11 ERA this spring, though his 13/4 K/BB ratio in 12 2/3 innings is pretty good.

Kyle Lobstein pitched three hitless innings and struck out four Saturday against the Astros. The Tigers have their five starters, but No. 6 is in doubt, with Jose Alvarez likely entering camp as the leader. Lobstein, a Rule 5 pick from the Rays a year ago whose rights were acquired after he failed to make the team, is another possibility to make some spot starts for the Tigers this year. He's not viewed as having much upside, but he had a 3.27 ERA and a 148/52 K/BB in 167 2/3 innings in Triple-A last year.

Tigers purchased the contract of LHP Kyle Lobstein from Triple-A Toledo. Lobstein was removed from the Tigers' 40-man roster before the start of the season, but now he's back on. The 24-year-old put up a 3.27 ERA and 148/52 K/BB ratio over 167 2/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A this year.

Tigers sent LHP Kyle Lobstein outright to Triple-A Toledo. The Tigers traded catcher Curt Casali to the Rays to retain the rights to Lobstein, who was acquired in December's Rule 5 Draft. Lobstein posted a 4.06 ERA and 129/69 K/BB ratio in 144 innings last season in Double-A.
