Lobstein (shoulder) has been shut down indefinitely, James Schmehl of MLive.com reports. Lobstein, who was placed on the DL last month with shoulder inflammation, was cleared to throw over the weekend. However, he reported soreness in the shoulder, so the team has opted to shut him down for the time being. Originally, the Tigers hoped to have Lobstein back in mid-June, but that timetable now appears to be very optimistic.

Lobstein (shoulder) hasn't thrown since being placed on the disabled list, as he's waiting for the soreness to subside, James Schmehl of MLive Media Group reports. Lobstein's inflamed shoulder continues to give him troubles, leaving him with an unclear timetable at this point. While June 8 remains the earliest return date for him, the fact that he's not yet throwing likely pushes that date back further.

Lobstein (shoulder) indicated Sunday that the MRI showed "just inflammation in my shoulder," which is considered a "relatively good prognosis," Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. Lobstein's shoulder injury surfaced following Saturday's outing, and resulted in his placement on the disabled list Sunday. While shoulder inflammation usually doesn't bode well for a starting pitcher, it sounds like surgery may not be required in this case. His timetable remains unclear at this point, but it should start to shape as his rehab process begins.

Lobstein was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with left shoulder soreness, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports. Lobstein was adequate in his start Saturday against the Astros with three runs allowed over 5.2 innings, but the shoulder soreness has apparently been an issue for quite some time and has yet to show much improvement. The Tigers decided it was for the best to shut the lefty down while they investigate the matter, as he'll undergo an MRI on the shoulder Monday. Buck Farmer will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo ahead of Thursday's game against the Angels to assume Lobstein's spot in the rotation.

Lobstein took the loss Saturday, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks over 5.2 innings while striking out one. His ERA now sits at 4.34, and his 20:16 K:BB ratio through 47.2 innings doesn't indicate that things will get much better any time soon. Lobstein's next start will come on Thursday, on the road against the Angels.

Lobstein was a tough-luck loser Monday, allowing three runs in 6.2 innings against the Brewers. After being blown out in his last start, Lobstein settled down nicely Monday. Absent his one bad start, the lefty has allowed more than three runs just once in a game this season. Lobstein will look to get back in the win column this weekend against the Astros.

Lobstein had his worst start of the season Wednesday. He lasted just 2.1 innings against the Twins and gave up seven hits and six earned runs. He entered the game with a 3.00 ERA and left with it at 4.33. He had been the one of the Tigers' most consistent starters this season and his last start had been the best of his young career. But he imploded in the third inning. The Twins loaded the bases on back-to-back singles and a walk, and then Trevor Plouffe tripled to the wall in right-center. The next batter punched a double and Lobstein got the hook. His final line was 2.1IP, 7H, 6R, 6ER, 1BB, 1SO. Ouch.

Lobstein (3-2) went 7.2 innings Thursday in a win over the White Sox, allowing just an unearned run on five hits and two walks while striking out three. Lobstein continues to have a curious amount of success early on, largely due to his ability to keep the ball in the park -- the 25-year-old hasn't allowed a homer over 33 innings so far, thanks to a ground-ball-heavy approach. But he also puts a lot of men on base and owns a minuscule 4.09 K/9 on the year, which aren't promising indicators that he can sustain his 3.00 ERA.

Lobstein allowed four runs on 10 hits, walking one and striking out two over 7.1 innings of a 4-1 loss to the Royals Friday night. Lobstein (2-2, 3.91 ERA) provided a respectable outing, but again struggled in the opening frame. After retiring the first two hitters, he gave up a pair of singles, a two-run double, another run scoring single and a walk before closing out the inning. He has now been scored upon in the first inning in three of four starts.

Lobstein struck out three and walked four while holding the Yankees to one run on three hits over six innings in a losing effort Tuesday. While his control was shaky Tuesday, Lobstein managed to work his way out of any major damage against a strong Yankees lineup. Lobstein will have an opportunity to stay in the Tigers' rotation until Justin Verlander (triceps) is ready to return from the DL. In his next start Sunday, Lobstein will face Cleveland at Comerica Park.
