Kyle Blanks needed four stitches above his left eye as a result of his sunglasses cutting him during a collision with the outfield wall in Sunday's loss to the Giants. Blanks is considered day-to-day for now, but a stint on the 15-day disabled list can't be ruled out. The Padres were giving Blanks an extended look in left field prior to the injury. He went 0-for-2 before being removed.

Still, this is yet another tough blow for the former top prospect. The 25-year-old has been limited to just 92 games at the big league level since slugging 10 homers and posting an .868 OPS over 172 plate appearances back in 2009.
