Kyle Blanks hit a two-run homer off Chris Volstad to help the Padres beat the Marlins 4-3 on Friday. Blanks has four homers and 12 RBI in 84 at-bats since his callup. The Padres figure to keep playing him pretty regularly in an effort to decide whether he should be a starter in left field next year.

According to Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors, the Padres have called up Kyle Blanks. There's nothing official from the team yet, but this could indicate that the struggling Anthony Rizzo is being sent to the minors or that Ryan Ludwick has been traded. Blanks, who underwent Tommy John surgery last year, is batting .351/.421/.716 with 11 homers and 35 RBI with Triple-A Tucson.
