Padres optioned OF/1B Kyle Blanks to Triple-A Tuscon. The oft-injured 26-year-old slugger did everything in his power to earn a spot on the Padres' Opening Day roster, hitting .359/.442/.609 with three homers and 14 RBI in 64 at-bats on the spring. As long as he remains healthy, he'll likely mash at the Triple-A level and earn a promotion to serve as a backup outfielder and first baseman for the Padres. If he finds his way into everyday at-bats, owners in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues should surely take notice.
