The Blue Jays are still considering Gausman day-to-day and will decide later this week what the possible next steps will be for his throwing program. The good news here is that Gausman's MRI showed no structural damage. However, the fact an MRI was ordered shows there is some level of concern. Gausman has yet to pitch in a game this spring, and since he did not fully bounce back after his last side session, his availability for Opening Day could be in jeopardy. Gausman entered the postseason with a 2.43 ERA across 29.2 innings in September, but was unable to keep it rolling in Tuesday's loss. His weak spot proved to be Royce Lewis, to whom Gausman conceded two home runs in the first and third innings. The team ultimately decided to hand things over to the bullpen after only 73 pitches, which may leave the right-hander available if needed to cover a few outs later in the series. Gausman now has a 4.91 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 25.2 career postseason innings with 30 strikeouts.

Gausman (12-9) earned the win over the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing three hits and walking three batters over six scoreless innings. He struck out 10.

He is expected to get his next start in New York against a struggling Yankees' offense.

Gausman (11-8) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and a walk over eight innings in a 5-1 victory over the Royals. He struck out 10.

An Edward Olivares solo shot in the fifth inning was the only blemish on his line, as Gausman delivered his 18th quality start of the season and his eighth outing with double-digit strikeouts. Gausman will likely take the mound next in a key wild-card battle next week during a home series against the Rangers.
