Gausman was sent home Saturday with flu-like symptoms, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman was sent home sick along with Freddy Galvis, Michael Lorenzen, Robert Stephenson and Josh VanMeter. Depending on how they feel Sunday, some or all of them could stay away from the club until Tuesday.

Gausman (3-9) gave up three runs on three hits and no walks while striking out two through two innings to take the loss against the Cubs on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman wasn't expected to pitch deep in his first start with the Reds, but he allowed a three-run home run in the first frame that handed him the loss. Gausman had a 4.02 ERA in 11 appearances as a reliever for the Reds coming into this game and will likely return to his bullpen role. The 28-year-old has a 5.99 ERA with 109 strikeouts through 28 appearances this season.

Gausman is slated to start Monday's game against the Cubs, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Reds have already been running out a five-man rotation lately, but manager David Bell may have wanted to build in an extra day of rest for the team's other starters while the season winds down. Enter Gausman, who has made all 11 of his appearances with the Reds out of the bullpen since being scooped up off waivers in early August. Gausman hasn't covered more than two innings in any of his outings with Cincinnati, so even if he performs well Monday, he may struggle to work deep enough into the contest to factor into the decision.

Gausman threw an 'immaculate inning' Sunday against the Cardinals, striking out the side on nine pitches.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman has thrown seven innings over four games with the Reds, all in relief, and has allowed two earned runs while striking out 11 and walking two. In this very brief sample, Gausman seems well suited to relief work.

The Reds acquired Gausman from the Braves on Monday after claiming him off waivers, sources tell Jeff Passan of ESPN.com.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman's move to Cincinnati seemingly comes out of nowhere, as there weren't any prior reports suggesting that Atlanta had exposed him to waivers. In any case, the Reds will pick up the remaining money he's owed on his one-year, $9.35 million contract and will have him under control through his final year of arbitration in 2020. The 28-year-old righty -- whose last start came against the Reds, incidentally -- posted a 6.19 ERA and 1.49 WHIP while striking out 85 in 80 frames for Atlanta this season. According to Jim Bowden of The Athletic, the Reds plan on using Gausman as a reliever.

Gausman (3-7) took the loss Friday as Atlanta was downed 5-2 by the Reds, giving up five runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was slow out of the gates once again, serving up a two-run shot to Joey Votto in the first inning, and Atlanta never climbed out of that hole. Gausman will carry a 6.19 ERA and 85:27 K:BB through 80 innings into his next start Wednesday in Minnesota, and another poor performance could put his rotation spot in jeopardy.

Gausman (3-6) took the loss after surrendering six runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings Sunday against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
The Phillies jumped on Gausman in the first inning, scoring one in the first, another in the third and four in the fifth before exiting. The 28-year-old right-hander gave up just one run over seven frames in his last start against the Nationals on July 21, but he wasn't able to turn in a second straight quality start. He now owns a 5.97 ERA with 80 punchouts over 75.1 innings this year.

Gausman (3-5) took the win against Washington on Sunday, hurling seven innings and giving up one run on five hits and no walks while striking out eight.
EDGE Analysis
In his first major-league start since landing on the IL due to plantar fasciitis on June 11, Gausman stifled the Nationals through seven innings, allowing only a trio of singles. He exited after allowing back-to-back hits leading off the eighth, with one of those baserunners coming around to score the only run charged to Gausman in the game. The 28-year-old was successful largely due to his efficiency, as he threw 63 of 83 pitches for strikes and did not walk a batter for only the second time this season. Gausman struggled to the tune of a 6.21 ERA prior to his stint on the IL but posted a 2.87 ERA and 5-3 record in 10 starts with Atlanta last season. He'll look to build upon Sunday's gem in his next scheduled start, a road battle against the Phillies on Saturday.

Gausman (foot) was activated from the injured list ahead of Sunday's start against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Things didn't go well for Gausman prior to his injury, and he will now get a chance to turn his season around in advance of the trade deadline. He logged a 6.21 ERA and 4.61 xFIP in 13 starts, striking out 64 in 62.1 innings. If he does not show some signs of turning things around, it's possible that the Braves could trade for someone to replace him in the rotation.

Gausman (foot) is listed as the Braves' scheduled starter for Sunday's game against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
The Braves will officially activate Gausman from the 10-day injured list ahead of the series finale, with the right-hander rejoining the rotation as a replacement for the recently demoted Bryse Wilson. Gausman has been brutal over 62.1 innings in the big leagues this season (6.21 ERA, 1.51 WHIP), but he drew positive reports coming out of his three-start rehab stint in the minors, per David O'Brien of The Athletic. In his final outing Monday with Triple-A Gwinnett, Gausman fired seven innings and gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out 10.
