Gausman (2-0) allowed one run on six hits and a walk while striking out six over six innings to earn the win over the Padres on Sunday. He also singled and reached via a fielding error while scoring two runs.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman's lone blemish on the day was allowing a first-inning solo home run to Fernando Tatis. The 30-year-old Gausman was excellent otherwise as it was his fifth start this season allowing one run or less. He lowered his ERA to a 2.04 while improving his K:BB to 40:11 over 39.2 innings. He's in line for a rematch against the Padres later in the week.

Gausman (1-0) picked up the win Monday in a 2-0 victory over the Phillies, allowing six hits and four walks over six scoreless innings while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander created plenty of traffic on the basepaths but buckled down when it counted, stranding runners in scoring position in every inning except the second. Gausman tossed 108 pitches (68 strikes) en route to his third quality start of the season, and he'll take a 2.45 ERA and 23:9 K:BB through 25.2 innings into his next outing, Saturday at home against the Marlins.

Gausman allowed five runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings in a no-decision against the Reds on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman got off to a poor start Tuesday, allowing a pair of two-run homers in the first inning off the bats of Joey Votto and Mike Moustakas. Eventually, the right-hander buckled down. Gausman retired the final 13 batters he faced and now has a 3.20 ERA and 18:5 K:BB in 19.2 innings this season. Assuming the Giants don't skip anyone this weekend, Gausman will get two starts next week (at Philadelphia, vs. Miami).

Gausman allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk while striking out five across seven innings Wednesday against the Padres. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman kept the deep Padres lineup in check, limiting them to only four singles in his seven frames. It was his second tremendous start in as many outings this season, as he's combined to allowed two earned runs with a 11:3 K:BB across 13.2 frames. Though he has yet to to earn a win, Gausman has been able to pitch deep into games, which should give him plenty of opportunities for victories as the season progresses. He's currently lined up to make this next start Tuesday at home against Cincinnati.

Gausman gave up one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out six in 6.2 innings Thursday against the Mariners. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The Mariners ended up tagging the Giants bullpen for seven earned runs, so Gausman was unable to get the win, despite a strong first start of 2021. He only threw 90 pitches (62 strikes) and almost made it through seven innings. Gausman lines up to start in San Diego on Wednesday.

Gausman will start Opening Day against the Mariners on April 1, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old accepted San Francisco's one-year, $18.9 million qualifying offer this offseason after posting a 3.62 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 79:16 K:BB over 59.1 innings last year, and he'll be the first pitcher to take the mound for the Giants in 2021. It's another contract year for Gausman, and replicating his success from 2020 would provide a significant boost to his stock entering free agency.

Gausman will start Monday's spring game against the White Sox, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman will make his third start of spring training Monday after he allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out four over 4.1 innings during his first two outings. The right-hander has been more effective than Johnny Cueto during his Cactus League appearances, but Cueto will start a simulated game for the Giants on Monday. Manager Gabe Kapler hasn't indicated whether Gausman or Cueto will serve as the Opening Day starter in 2021, but Kapler said Sunday that he could reach a decision in the next few days.

Gausman accepted a one-year, $18.9 million qualifying offer from the Giants on Wednesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman was rumored to have several multi-year contract offers on the table, but he'll instead elect to take a short-term deal that will pay him more than double his salary from 2020. The right-hander was dominant during his first year with the Giants during the abbreviated 2020 season, recording a 3.62 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 79:16 K:BB over 59.2 innings.

The Giants extended Gausman the $18.9 million qualifying offer for 2021 on Sunday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander joined San Francisco on a one-year, $9 million deal in January and pitched well enough during the shortened season to earn the qualifying offer. Gausman posted a 3.62 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 79:16 K:BB over 59.2 innings, and the Giants are still hoping to reach an agreement on a long-term deal. If no deal is reached and he declines the one-year, $18.9 offer, the 29-year-old will carry draft-pick compensation if he signs elsewhere in free agency.

Gausman fanned nine while allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk across six innings during Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Rockies. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman was effective in six innings of work, punching out nine Rockies before exiting with a 3-2 lead. Unfortunately for the right-hander, Sam Coonrod quickly gave up a pair of runs after replacing him, forcing Gausman to settle for a no-decision. It marked the second straight outing in which Gausman was sharp but came away winless. The 29-year-old has fanned 24 while allowing just four runs across his last 18 innings and is a strong candidate to start a game next week should the Giants sneak into the playoffs.
