Smith started at designated hitter and went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 8-7 win over Texas.
EDGE Analysis
Smith came out from behind the plate for one game to be Chicago's DH as manager Rick Renteria opted to give regular DH Matt Davidson (one hit and 13 Ks in last 20 at-bats) a second consecutive night off. Smith, who started the season in the minor leagues, has emerged as the White Sox's leading catcher after a 12-game stretch in which he's hit .409 (18-for-44). He's a bit of an unknown, and his average was sitting at .205 before the streak, so fantasy owners banking on Smith are taking a gamble.

Smith is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Smith had been behind the dish for five of the previous six games to take control of the White Sox's timeshare at catcher, but he'll give way to Omar Narvaez on Wednesday. With a .304 average in June, Smith still looks like the team's primary backstop.

Smith is out of the lineup Sunday against the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Smith has drawn starts in three consecutive games, but will take a seat for Sunday afternoon's series finale. Omar Narvaez will man the backstop in his stead.

Smith is not in the lineup Friday against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Smith went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Thursday's contest, so the White Sox will reward him with...another night off. This marks the third time in four games that he'll cede catching duties to Omar Narvaez as a part of the White Sox's meager timeshare behind the plate.

Smith is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
This marks the second game in a row Smith will watch from the bench. He and Omar Narvaez seem to be in a sporadic and unproductive timeshare until one of them breaks out at the plate, which really hasn't happened up to this point.

Smith is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Despite bashing a home run in Monday's contest, Smith will hit the bench for the second time in three days. Omar Narvaez will fill in for the evening, continuing the low-production timeshare behind the plate for the White Sox.

Smith went 2-for-3 with his first career home run in Monday's win over the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
He touched Wade Miley up in the second inning for his first home run at any level this season. Smith smacked nine homers in just 51 games in the minors last year, but unless we see more of that power translate or his plate discipline improve, Smith will continue to be little more than a last-ditch desperation play in deep two-catcher formats.

Smith is out of the lineup Sunday against the Indians, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith will take a seat for the second time in the series with manager Rick Renteria opting to go with Omar Narvaez behind the plate. Though Smith has been seeing the bulk of the starts at catcher over the last couple of weeks, he could soon fall into the smaller end of a timeshare at the position with his .230 on-base percentage more than 120 points below Narvaez's season mark.

Smith will get the day off Friday for the series opener against the Indians, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith takes a seat after catching the last two days in Tampa Bay, with Omar Narvaez in his place. The 28-year-old is hitting .224/.246/.328 with seven extra-base hits and five RBI through 20 games with the White Sox this season, and is likely to be back behind the plate Saturday.

Smith is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Rays, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With starts behind the dish in five of the last six games, Smith seems to have settled in as manager Rick Renteria's preferred option at catcher, but he'll give way to Omar Narvaez in the series opener. Smith is hitting .230/.254/.328 over 63 plate appearances this season and remains only a low-end option at the position in AL-only and two-catcher mixed leagues.
