Smith is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Indians, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith will get the day off after starting five of the last seven games behind the dish, going 5-for-17 (.294) over that stretch. Omar Narvaez will draw the start in his stead as the two continue to sporadically split time at backstop.

Smith will start at catcher and bat sixth Sunday against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Smith will handle catching duties for the fifth time in seven games, so for the time being, it appears he's vaulted back ahead of Omar Narvaez on the depth chart. It's still quite difficult to predict how manager Rick Renteria will divvy up the starts behind the plate, however, so it wouldn't be surprising if Smith ceded more at-bats to Narvaez over the upcoming week, despite batting .303 since Aug. 19.

Smith is out of the lineup for the first game of the White Sox's doubleheader Monday against the Twins, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith should be behind the plate for the nightcap, but it nonetheless appears as though he's fallen behind Omar Narvaez on the depth chart at catcher. Narvaez will start for the fifth time in six games in Game 1, but Smith won't be totally overlooked in the timeshare. The 29-year-old has enjoyed a stellar August, going 13-for-34 with six extra-base knocks and nine RBI.

EDGE Analysis
Smith will head to the bench for Sunday's matinee contest after starting and producing three hits Saturday night. Omar Narvaez will draw his fourth start in five games in his place.

Smith will not start Friday against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
For the third straight game, Omar Narvaez will take his place behind the dish and bat sixth. The two backstops are in a timeshare for starting duties at the plate, but Narvaez will get the call after going 1-for-2 with two walks in the series opener Thursday.

Smith is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Smith will head to the bench for a second straight contest as Omar Narvaez sets up behind the dish in his stead. The two remain locked in timeshare at backstop, though Smith should still see the bulk of catching duties moving forward.

Smith is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite riding a modest four-game hit streak, Smith will head to the bench for a breather after starting three of the past four games at backstop. In his place, Omar Narvaez will set up behind the dish, batting seventh.

Smith is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Despite batting .412 (7-for-17) through five games this month, Smith will head to the bench for a second straight game as manager Rick Renteria continues to give Omar Narvaez looks behind the dish. The two should continue to sporadically split catching duties moving forward.

Smith is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Astros, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith turned in his best performance of the season Tuesday -- going 2-for-3 with a home run, double, two walks and four RBI -- but he'll still hit the bench for the third time in eight games with manager Rick Renteria wanting to keep Omar Narvaez involved in the catching timeshare. That being said, Smith still seems destined to see the bulk of the starts behind the plate for the time being, especially after turning in a trio of multi-hit performances to begin August.

Smith went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and four RBI in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Rick Renteria has a seemingly unpredictable rotation of his catchers and right now it favors Smith, who is hitting .375 over his last seven games. While the White Sox lineup isn't scaring many opponents these days, Smith has found himself in the middle of the order of late. Having Smith hit behind Jose Abreu and Avisail Garcia, Chicago's best hitters, is a potentially productive spot.
