Smith is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Omar Narvaez had seemed to take on the brunt of the catching duties toward the end of July, but Smith garnered starts behind the plate in three of the team's first five games of August. It's been difficult to assess the White Sox's catching timeshare throughout the season, and that's unlikely to change over the final two months of the campaign. After struggling out of the All-Star break, Smith has at least become a more usable option in AL-only formats by recording seven hits in 21 at-bats over his last six contests.

Smith is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Cubs, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Aside from a 2-for-3 showing in his most recent start Monday, Smith has been a zero behind the plate since the start of July, batting only .226. Smith's offensive struggles have been more apparent since the All-Star break, and it seems that it has allowed Omar Narvaez to push ahead of him on the depth chart, at least temporarily. Narvaez will make his fourth start behind the plate Wednesday in the White Sox's last six games.

Smith is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith and Omar Narvaez will alternate starts behind the plate for the fourth straight contest, so it appears as though the two backstops have settled back into a timeshare. With two hits in Monday's win, Smith at least was able to end an 0-for-13 slide at the dish to open the second half.

Smith is out of the lineup Sunday against the Royals, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though the Royals are bringing a southpaw to the hill in Travis Wood, the lefty-hitting Omar Narvaez will draw his third start in four games, resulting in Smith hitting the bench. Smith appeared to have taken over as the White Sox's primary catcher in late May when his bat began to heat up, but after the backstop went 0-for-13 to open up the second half, manager Rick Renteria may be inclined to turn the position back into a timeshare.

Smith is out of the lineup Friday against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Smith takes a seat for the second consecutive game, the first time that has occurred since June 16-17. The 29-year-old backstop hasn't exactly been a force from the plate recently, slashing just .200/.259/.240 this month, so Omar Narvaez will take over and act as battery mate for James Shields

Smith is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Smith will receive a standard day off after starting three of the past four games behind the plate, going 0-for-10 at the plate during that span. In his place, Omar Narvaez takes over the catching duties, batting eighth.

Smith is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
It appears to be a routine day off for Smith, who started behind the plate in the first two games out of the break. Smith and Omar Narvaez have been stuck in a timeshare for much of the season, but with a .354 average since June 12, Smith seems to have turned it into a more one-sided arrangement.

EDGE Analysis
Still mired in a timeshare behind the plate, Smith will give way to Omar Narvaez in the first-half finale against Kyle Freeland and the Rockies.

Smith is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
After starting Monday night, Smith will give way to Omar Narvaez as a result of the early 4:05 p.m. EST start time Tuesday. Smith still looks to have the upper hand in the timeshare at catcher while carrying a .383 average over his last 14 games.
