Juan Lagares (intercostal) is expected back Thursday. Lagares shifted his minor league rehab tour to Double-A Binghamton on Sunday after going 0-for-8 in two games with the Mets' Gulf Coast League affiliate. The Mets might release outfielder Chris Young to clear a 25-man roster spot for Lagares, who has been on the disabled list since June 2 because of a right intercostal strain.

Juan Lagares (intercostal) could be activated from the disabled list by the middle of the week. Lagares is moving his rehab assignment up to Double-A Birmingham Sunday. The outfielder went hitless in two rehab games with the Gulf Coast League Mets, but the important thing is that he's had no setbacks.

Juan Lagares (intercostal) is 0-for-8 over his first two rehab games with the GCL Mets. The good news is that no setbacks have been reported. Lagares has been sidelined since early June with an intercostal strain, but he appears likely to return next week.

Mets manager Terry Collins said Thursday that Juan Lagares (intercostal) should play in a rehab game "soon." Lagares landed on the disabled list in early June with an intercostal strain, but he resumed taking batting practice earlier this week. He could rejoin the Mets at some point next week if all goes well.

Juan Lagares (intercostal) took batting practice Monday for the first time since landing on the DL. Lagares has been sidelined since June 2 with a right intercostal strain. He'll likely need a minor league rehab assignment before returning to the Mets, which means the young center fielder be on the disabled list at least another 7-10 days. Lagares was batting .288/.331/.423 with two home runs and 18 RBI in 42 games before the injury.

Juan Lagares (intercostal) is still limited in what he's able to do because he's not yet "asymptomatic," Mets manager Terry Collins said Saturday. Asymptomatic is a fancy way of saying Lagares is still feeling the effects of the right intercostal strain that landed him on the disabled list on Monday. The outfielder is currently rehabbing at the Mets' complex in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Lagares has still got 10 days to recover, but at this point it seems like he'll need more than the original 15 days before returning.

Juan Lagares is back in the Mets' lineup Sunday. Lagares missed Saturday's contest with a right ribcage spasm, but he obviously needed just the one day off. The outfielder is batting .291/.335/.430 this season for the Mets.

Juan Lagares is not in Saturday's lineup against the Phillies due to a right ribcage spasm. Chris Young is starting in center field in Lagares' place. Lagares went 1-for-7 with a walk in Friday's 14-inning loss to the Phillies and is slashing .291/.335/.430 on the season.
