Josh Reddick underwent surgery Tuesday to repair torn cartilage in his left wrist. Reddick will rest for three weeks before beginning a rehab program, but should be ready for spring training. The 24-year-old batted .280/.327/.457 with seven homers, 28 RBI and a .784 OPS over 278 plate appearances with the Red Sox this season. He could get a shot at the starting right field job if Ben Cherington decides against signing a free agent this winter.

Josh Reddick (hand) did not play in Sunday's game. Reddick was removed from Saturday's game after getting hit by a Darren Oliver pitch. Fortunately the X-Rays came back negative. "Red's pretty sore," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said. "Structurally, he's fine. He just got a pretty good bruise. I think we'll certainly stay away from him today, let him concentrate on the ice and whatever they want to do [in trainer's room] as opposed to picking up a bat and coming back a day too early and he struggles for a while." Consider him day-to-day for now.

Fortunately the X-Rays came back negative. Reddick played a big role in the Red Sox's offensive dominance Saturday, going 4-for-4 with a double and three runs scored.

Red Sox manager Terry Francona acknowledged Friday that Josh Reddick will get the majority of the playing time in right field over the struggling J.D. Drew for the time being. "He's swinging the bat awfully well. It's kind of hard not to play him," said Francona, who actually compared the situation to when Jed Lowrie supplanted Marco Scutaro at shortstop earlier this season. "I think Josh deserves to play. He's given us such a lift in our lineup." Reddick, 24, is batting .378/.432/.671 with four homers and 18 RBI over 95 plate appearances this season. We wouldn't pick him up in standard mixed leagues quite yet, but he's certainly worth monitoring.

Josh Reddick will start in right field Friday night against the Mariners. He'll make the start, despite J.D. Drew being 9-for-25 (.360) with two homers against Friday's starter Felix Hernandez. Reddick hasn't officially taken Drew's job in right field, but actions speak louder than words sometimes.

Josh Reddick appears to have supplanted J.D. Drew as Boston's everyday right fielder. Reddick is batting .378 with a .432 on-base percentage and .671 slugging percentage through his first 95 plate appearances this season, while Drew is looking every bit of his 35 years, hitting .223/.321/.309. Reddick isn't yet a serious option in most mixed leagues, but it's looking like Drew can safely be dropped.

Josh Reddick went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Boston's 15-10 win over Baltimore on Monday. It was Reddick's fourth knock of the year and third in eight games. Now through 75 at-bats, his OPS is still above 1.000.

Josh Reddick went hitless in his second consecutive game on Sunday, but is still hitting .404 on the season. Granted, Reddick has only 47 at-bats. But he certainly has made an impact so far, particularly when compared to fellow left fielder Darnell McDonald, who is hitting .117 through 60 at-bats. Remarkably, Reddick's current 0-for-6 drought is his worst of the season.

Red Sox recalled OF Josh Reddick from Triple-A Pawtucket. Reddick picked up five hits and four RBI in 13 at-bats in a stint earlier this season with the Sox and was hitting .230/.333/.508 with 14 homers for Pawtucket. He'll provide depth with Carl Crawford on the DL.
