Jay is out of the Cardinals' lineup Wednesday.
Jay gets a good portion of the starts in center field for St. Louis, but he will make way for Peter Bourjos on Wednesday with lefty Tommy Milone on the mound for the Twins. Considering Jay is slashing just .228/.314/.279, the Cardinals could opt to start giving Bourjos more stars in center in an effort to get the optimal defensive lineup in play. However, manager Mike Matheny has shown extreme loyalty to struggling veterans before, and Jay probably fits that bill.

Jay is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Twins.
Jay has started the last four games in center field, but he'll be given the day off Tuesday, as Peter Bourjos moves into the lineup. Bourjos will bat eighth against Minnesota starter Kyle Gibson.

Jay is out of the lineup Saturday against the Dodgers.
Jay will ride the pine for a second straight game with another tough lefty (Clayton Kershaw) toeing the rubber for the opposition. Since returning from the DL late last month, Jay has gone 3-for-17 without an extra-base hit and just one run scored. Peter Bourjos will man center field and lead off Saturday.

Jay is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.
Jay is returning to a crowded outfield situation, as both Randal Grichuk and Peter Bourjos are expected to press him for regular playing time. The decision was made easier for manager Mike Matheny on Sunday, however, as the left-handed bat of Jay will rest with southpaw Brett Anderson on the hill for the Dodgers.

Jay is starting in center field an hitting seventh Saturday against the Dodgers.
Jay was activated from the disabled list prior to Friday's game in which he saw a pinch-hit appearance. Given how well Randal Grichuk has played and how invested the Cardinals are in Jason Heyward this season it would seem likely that Grichuk starts in center field most days as long as he continues to swing a hot bat.

Jay (wrist) was activated from the disabled list Friday.
Jay is ready to resume playing for the big club after completing a three-game rehab stint with Low-A Peoria. While Jay is back on the Cardinals' roster, he will not be in the lineup Friday night, and he figures to be challenged for playing time by Peter Bourjos and Randal Grichuk, who both played well in his absence.

Jay (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Low-A Peoria on Tuesday, MLB.com reports.
Jay took batting practice on the field with his teammates Monday, and afterward GM John Mozeliak announced the start date and location for the outfielder's rehab assignment. The club wants Jay to play two or three games in the minors to work on his timing, but if all goes well, he will be activated Friday. It's uncertain, however, what role Jay will take on upon his return, as Randal Grichuk and Peter Bourjos have fared reasonably well in his absence and Jay went 25-for-101 with two extra-base hits (both doubles) before hitting the DL.

Jay (wrist) will likely be sent on a rehab assignment to work on his timing, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Jay is first eligible to return from the disabled list Tuesday, but manager Mike Matheny would like to see him get a few more swings in before rejoining the big league club. This would set up the regular center fielder for a return this weekend, provided the club likes what they see in his rehab outings. Peter Bourjos and Randal Grichuk will continue to pick up the reps he leaves behind in the meantime.

Jay (wrist) has taken batting practice the last two days and may be able to return from the disabled list when first eligible on Tuesday.
Jay may be eased back into the lineup as Peter Borjous and Randal Grichuk have both played well this season when given a chance. He may not be an everyday player for the Cardinals going forward this season.

Jay (wrist) has been placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to May 10.
Jay was not in the starting lineup for the fourth straight game Thursday, allowing the team to backdate the stint. While he's on the shelf, look for Peter Boujos to get a short-term bump in utility, especially if he continues to man the leadoff spot. The Cardinals recalled Xavier Scruggs from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move.
