Jay is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Top prospect Manuel Margot will start in center field and lead off Wednesday -- a preview of what Padres fans and Margot's fantasy owners should become accustomed to heading into 2017. Jay has still been playing almost every day of late, but could sit a couple more times before season's end as San Diego continues to work in its youngsters.

Jay is not in the lineup Thursday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Jay has started all but one game since returning from a forearm injury earlier in the month, but he'll head to the bench for a day off now that the Padres have their top prospects from Triple-A up in the big leagues. Hunter Renfroe will take over duties in right field for the night.

Jay is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Since returning from a forearm injury, Jay has started four games, going 5-for-17 in that time. However, he'll sit out Sunday and give way to Oswaldo Arcia in right field.

Jay is starting in right field and leading off Wednesday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
This will be Jay's first start since June 19, as a forearm injury sidelined him for 10 weeks. It remains to be seen how much Jay will play down the stretch, but given how well he performed before the injury, it's possible he could assume the starting duties in right field over the final four weeks of the season.

Jay is not in the lineup for Tuesday's matchup with the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Despite being activated off the disabled list earlier in the day, the Padres elected to stick with Travis Jankowski in center field instead of slotting Jay right back into the lineup. It's unclear how the Padres plan to handle the outfield playing time situation for the rest of the month, but it would be tough to leave Jay's .752 OPS on the bench, even if Jankowski filled in well in his absence.

The Padres activated Jay (forearm) from the disabled list Tuesday, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jay just began a rehab assignment Saturday, and it did not take him long to rejoin the active roster for the first time since late June. Jay owns a respectable .752 OPS on the season and played center field nearly every day when he was healthy, but Travis Jankowski staked his claim to both the center field and leadoff jobs in his absence, so it remains to be seen what type of role Jay will fill the rest of the way.

Jay (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment Saturday with High-A Lake Elsinore, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jay's shoulder injury has sidelined him since June 19, but he is nearly ready to rejoin the big club. He was transferred to the 60-day disabled list earlier this week, but he has already been out more than the minimum out of days, so he will be eligible to be activated whenever he has his playing legs back under him.

Jay (forearm) took batting practice Friday, Dennis Lin of San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jay, who's been out since June 19, has progressed from hitting off a tee to taking batting practice over the course of 13 days. San Diego had hoped to have Jay activated from the DL sometime in early July, so more information regarding his eventual return should be available in the near future.

Jay (forearm) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The Padres claimed Oswaldo Arcia off waivers Saturday, so moving Jay to the 60-day DL will free up a spot on the 40-man roster. Jay continues to work back from a fractured forearm and began hitting off of a tee roughly a week ago. At this point, he's likely looking at a mid-September return.

Jay (forearm) hit off a tee Sunday, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sunday's workout marked the first time that Jay had hit off a tee since being placed on the DL on June 21 with a broken forearm. At this point in time, the Padres haven't indicated when they expect Jay to return to action.
