Jay will start in left field and lead off Tuesday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
With manager Joe Maddon keeping Ian Happ on the bench against a left-handed pitcher for the second straight day, Jay will enter the lineup for just his third start in 14 games. The Cubs' ample depth in the outfield should continue to limit Jay's at-bats, but he could be a decent value play in DFS contests while occupying a prominent spot in the batting order Tuesday.

Jay is out of Saturday's lineup against the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
Jason Heyward (finger) was activated from the DL and is starting in right field, and the Cubs are sticking with Ian Happ in center field, so it looks like Jay may see his playing time take a major hit, at least while Happ stays hot at the plate.

Jay (back) is back in the lineup Wednesday against the Reds, batting ninth and playing right field.
EDGE Analysis
The 32-year-old has been out for three games due to back spasms, but it seems that the issue has subsided enough to allow him to play again. Jay will resume a regular role in the Cubs' outfield for the time being, although things could change once Jason Heyward (hand) returns from the DL.

Jay (back) is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Jay will now miss his third straight contest as he continues to be bothered by back spasms. Ian Happ will get his first start in center field Tuesday, batting cleanup. It's unclear how long the back spasms will keep Jay sidelined, but he should be considered day-to-day for now.

Jay (back) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Jay was forced to exit Friday's game against the Cardinals with back spasms and has now missed the team's following two contests as the injury apparently has not subsided. It's currently unclear as to exactly when the center fielder will be able to rejoin the lineup, but he'll remain listed as day-to-day for the time being.

Jay (back) is not in Saturday's lineup against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Jay will remain out as he continues dealing with a back issue. There's yet to be any word regarding the severity of the injury, so consider him day-to-day until further notice. While Jay heads to the bench, Albert Almora will start in center field.

Jay (back) is questionable for Saturday's game against the Cardinals, Gordon Wittenmeyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Kris Bryant expected to miss another game with a stomach ailment, Jay will likely have a lineup spot available should his back spasms calm down. If not, look for Tommy La Stella to play second base and the versatile Ben Zobrist to man right field.

Jay was forced to leave Friday's game against St. Louis in the second inning with back spasms, Gordon Wittenmeyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jay was already replacing Kris Bryant, who was out with a stomach illness. Thankfully for the Cubs, they have multiple versatile position players, as they were able to slide Ben Zobrist into right field and insert Tommy La Stella into the game at second base. For now, consider Jay day-to-day, but back spasms can be an indicator of a worse injury. Expect updates before Saturday afternoon's game.

Jay is leading off and starting in center field Wednesday against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Jay, who has seen a sharp uptick in playing time since Jason Heyward (hand) landed on the DL, takes over the leadoff role with Kyle Schwarber moving to the No. 3 hole. The veteran outfielder is hitting a solid .323 from the plate thus far and has scored 12 runs, despite racking up only 62 at-bats this season.

Jay is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
The Cubs are going with the exact same lineup they had for Monday's game, which got rained out. Albert Almora will start in center field and hit ninth against righty Antonio Senzatela. Jay is hitting an empty .322 in 72 plate appearances, as he has zero home runs and just one stolen base. His .413 BABIP suggests the batting average is due to regress toward his .288 career average. However, his 13.9 percent walk rate, which is by far a career best, should allow him to hold on to a sizable role throughout the season.
