Jay is not in the lineup against the Angels on Friday, 610 Sports Radio - Kansas City reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jay will head to the bench following seven straight starts as Paulo Orlando gets the assignment in left and Abraham Almonte draws a start in center. Over 11 appearances this year, Jay is hitting .244/.354/.317 with two extra-base hits, one RBI and one stolen base.

Jay went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's 3-2 loss to Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
He's been doing his job as the Royals' leadoff hitter against right-handed pitching, drawing a walk in four straight games while going 6-for-18. Jay doesn't offer much power production -- he's still looking for his first homer and RBI of the season -- and he hasn't stolen double-digit bases since 2013, but the veteran outfielder's OBP and runs will still give him value in deeper fantasy formats.

Jay is starting in left field and batting leadoff Thursday against the White Sox, Maria Torres of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
With right-hander James Shields toeing the rubber for the opposition, Jay, who owns a career OBP of .355, will occupy the Royals' leadoff spot for the season opener. It remains to be seen if Jay will continue to start and hit atop the order against same-handed starters, but if he does, the veteran could top his career high of 75 runs, which he set in 2013.

Jay is the favorite to lead off for the Royals this season, Rustin Dodd of The Athletic Kansas City reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Ned Yost said he is also considering Whit Merrifield atop the lineup, but prefers Merrifield hitting second or third. Jay hit .296 with a .374 OBP for the Cubs last season and has a career OBP of .355, so he makes perfect sense for the leadoff spot. With everyday at-bats, Jay could top his career high of 75 runs, set in 2013 with the Cardinals.

Jay agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract with the Royals on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran outfielder produced on of his best offensive seasons in 2017, batting .296 with 65 runs scored and six stolen bases in 379 at-bats. Jay is also a solid defender and can hit left-handed, a big selling point for the righty-heavy Royals. Jay will likely push for regular playing time in center field with Paulo Orlando with a platoon situation potentially coming forth (despite the fact that Jay batted over .300 against lefties the past two years). He's past his prime, but regular at-bats make Jay a decent cheap fantasy commodity.

Jay is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Jay will retreat to the bench for Game 5 of the NLCS as the club goes up against left-hander Clayton Kershaw. In his place, Kyle Schwarber earns the nod in left while Albert Almora will start in center and bat atop the order. Jay will likely enter the game as a defensive substitute or pinch hitter in the latter stages of the contest.

Jay is not in the lineup against the Nationals on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Jay will remain on the bench for Game 2 of the NLDS with southpaw Gio Gonzalez on the mound for Washington. In his place, Ian Happ will draw a start in left while Albert Almora gets the nod in center. During Friday's victory, Jay was used as a pinch hitter, going 1-for-1 with a double and a run, and will likely be deployed in that capacity yet again Saturday.

Jay is not in the lineup against the Nationals for Game 1 of the NLDS on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Jay will head to the bench for the opening game of the series as Kyle Schwarber draws the start in left. He will be available off the bench and is likely going to enter the fray at some point if the game is close. Looking ahead, with left-hander Gio Gonzalez confirmed as Saturday's starter, Jay may be left out of the starting nine once again.

Jay is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
The Cubs are resting all of their starters after clinching the NL Central on Wednesday, so Jay will head to the bench as Kyle Schwarber steps in to man left field in his stead.

Jay is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Jay raised his batting average 10 points to .293 over the last six games, but manager Joe Maddon decided he was due a day off after five straight starts, so he will open on the bench Tuesday. Ian Happ will take Jay's place in center field, and Ben Zobrist will assume his spot atop the order.
