Jay signed a contract with the White Sox on Monday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
The details surrounding Jay's contract have yet to be finalized, and he'll have to undergo a physical before the deal becomes official. Jay split his 2018 season in Kansas City and Arizona, putting together a .268/.330/.347 batting line with three homers, 40 RBI and four stolen bases over 143 games. He should get a shot to compete for a starting job in Chicago, although he could very well fall into a bench role come Opening Day. The White Sox signed Yonder Alonso (Manny Machado's brother-in-law) earlier this offseason, and they've now acquired one of Machado's close friends, which may serve as a useful bargaining chip.

Jay notched two hits in four at-bats Wednesday in the Diamondbacks' 9-0 win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Jay drew the start in center field in place of A.J. Pollock, who was one of five regulars withheld from the lineup as manager Torey Lovullo looked to shake things up following the team's recent slide down the standings. The lineup overhaul paid dividends, but Jay likely won't be in store for more than a handful of starts over the final week and a half of the season even though the Diamondbacks are on the brink of elimination from playoff contention.

Jay went 2-for-4 with a walk and RBI in the Diamondbacks' 9-5 loss to the Braves on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Jay was started for just the second time in five games with David Peralta (ankle) withheld from the lineup. Peralta was able to enter the game as a pinch hitter and looks poised to re-enter the starting nine at some point during Arizona's four-game set in Colorado that begins Monday, so it shouldn't be long before Jay returns to a bench role.

Jay went 3-for-4 with a triple Monday in the Diamondbacks' 2-0 loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Making his second start in as many days with A.J. Pollock receiving the night off, Jay was responsible for most of the Diamondbacks' offense, notching three of the team's five hits. The triple was Jay's career-best sixth of the season, but only his fourth extra-base knock of August. Jay's below-average power, limited stolen-base production and lack of a full-time role will continue to limit his ceiling in the fantasy realm.

Jay went 1-for-4 with a run scored Sunday in the Diamondbacks' 5-2 win over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Jay had been on the bench for Arizona's previous four games before re-entering the lineup Sunday in favor of a resting Steven Souza. Though Souza has emerged as the team's preferred option in right field, Jay should continue to pick up at least a couple starts per week and is usually deployed as the Diamondbacks' leadoff man when included in the lineup. Jay doesn't bring much to the table in terms of power or speed, but his strong contact skills may make him of use to NL-only owners looking to avoid losing ground in the batting-average category.

Jay went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in the Diamondbacks' 7-6 loss to the Padres on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Dating back to July 24, Jay has registered 11 multi-hit performances in 19 games, lifting his season average to .280. Jay, who often serves as the Diamondbacks' leadoff man, is also just six runs shy of matching the career-high total of 75 he tallied with the Cardinals in 2013. Beyond that, there's not much to get excited about in Jay's fantasy profile, given his dearth of power or speed.

Jay went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored Thursday in the Diamondbacks' 5-1 win over the Padres. He also reached base on a hit by pitch.
EDGE Analysis
Serving as the club's table setter in the series opener, Jay ignited the Diamondbacks' five-run explosion in the first inning with the leadoff double, his 18th of the season. He reached base again later in the inning when he was plunked by Jacob Nix, with the Padres pitcher getting pulled immediately after. Jay has started three of the Diamondbacks' last four games and has performed well with five hits in 14 at-bats, but he's still on the outside looking in for a full-time role with David Peralta, A.J. Pollock and Steven Souza having seemingly established themselves as Arizona's preferred outfield arrangement.

Jay went 2-for-5 with two runs Sunday in the Diamondbacks' 9-2 win over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Jay went unused off the bench in the first two games of the series before entering the starting nine Sunday in place of a resting Steven Souza. While slotting in atop the order, Jay delivered his second straight two-hit performance, propping his season average up .275. Jay will normally be deployed as the Diamondbacks' table setter on the occasions he enters the lineup, but the lack of a full-time role dims his fantasy utility.

Jay went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a run Wednesday in the Diamondbacks' 6-0 win over the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Jay's two-hit performance ended an 0-for-12 slump at the dish over the Diamondbacks' past three contests. The outfielder has struggled to a .286 on-base percentage in the second half and has supplied one home run and one stolen base since June 24, thereby limiting most of his fantasy appeal.

Jay went 2-for-4 with a triple, walk and a pair of runs Monday in the Diamondbacks' 9-5 loss to the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Jay started for the third time in four games with the Diamondbacks holding out left fielder David Peralta (shoulder) for the contest. While Jay turned in a solid performance atop the order, he's expected to settle back into a fourth-outfielder role in the coming days with Peralta's injury not viewed as a major concern. Peralta was available off the bench Monday, but went unused.
