Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that the Twins were among "a few teams" in attendance at Johan Santana's bullpen session Tuesday in Fort Myers, Florida. Santana appeared pleased with how things went, as he wrote on his Twitter account that "today was a very good day off the mound" and that he's "getting better." The southpaw isn't expected to be ready to return to the majors until late May or June and will likely have to settle for a minor league contract.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that at least three American League teams are showing interest in free agent southpaw Johan Santana. Santana has been throwing bullpen sessions on his own, and is currently targeting a June return to the big leagues. The Twins have maintained steady interest throughout the offseason, but it's unclear at the moment who the other two interested parties may be.

Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reports that Johan Santana (shoulder) is "feeling better than expected" so far in his rehab. It jibes with recent progress updates on the left-hander, as Santana began throwing off a mound last week and will reportedly audition for interested teams soon. The southpaw is coming back from surgery to repair a re-tear of his shoulder capsule, an operation that was performed last April.

Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN reports that Johan Santana (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session for scouts of interested teams in the near future. While a date hasn't been set, it was announced on Friday that Santana would begin throwing off a mound this week, and appears to be ahead of schedule in his recovery to repair a torn capsule in his left shoulder. The Twins are one team that would surely be on hand for that session.

Johan Santana (shoulder) began throwing off a mound this week. Santana revealed the news himself on Twitter, adding that he feels "great." The veteran left-hander is coming back from a second surgery to repair a re-tear of his shoulder capsule and it's uncertain when he'll be game-ready. Twins general manager Terry Ryan indicated last month that Santana wouldn't be ready to pitch until midseason, but the fact that he's already throwing off a mound suggests he could beat that timetable. The Twins and Yankees are two clubs known to be monitoring Santana's progress.

Twins general manager Terry Ryan revealed at TwinsFest on Sunday that Johan Santana (shoulder) isn't expected to be game-ready until midseason. The feeling had been that Santana could be ready to go for spring training following surgery last April to repair a re-tear of his shoulder capsule. The news shouldn't come as much of a surprise, though, given that it took the lefty 19 months to return from his first shoulder operation. Ryan added that the Twins are still "keeping an eye" on Santana and that it seems like a "good fit for both of us." The Yankees are one of a handful of other clubs monitoring Santana's progress.

Andy McCullough of the Newark Star-Ledger reports that the Yankees are one of several teams monitoring Johan Santana's progress. It's no secret that the Yankees' top target is Masahiro Tanaka (and McCullough says they might have already met with Tanaka and his representative, Casey Close), but they're keeping tabs on other options, as well. Santana, who is coming back from a second major shoulder surgery, is also drawing interest from his former team, the Twins.

According to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, a reunion between Johan Santana and the Twins remains a very real possibility. While the Twins haven't made the 34-year-old left-hander a formal contract offer, they continue to discuss the idea internally and have remained in contact with his representatives. Santana, who currently recovering from a second major shoulder surgery, has attracted interest from several teams this winter but will likely have to settle for an incentive-laden minor league deal.
