Johan Santana (shoulder) was scheduled to resume throwing off a mound in Port St. Lucie on Tuesday.
Santana hasn't thrown from a mound since tossing three scoreless innings in a start with High-A St. Lucie on July 28. The Mets are still hopeful he'll be able to return at some point in September, but that window is closing rather quickly. Of course, the most important thing is that he is healthy headed into 2012.

Johan Santana (shoulder) has been cleared to resume his throwing program.
Santana spent the last 10 days being evaluated in New York after coming down with a bit of shoulder fatigue. He was cleared of any structural damage and will resume his rehab later this week with bullpen workouts. The high-priced left-hander is still aiming to return to the majors before the 2011 regular season is through.

Johan Santana (shoulder) is scheduled to be reevaluated at the end of the Mets' current 10-game homestand next Thursday.
Santana was told to rest for a week after being diagnosed with left shoulder fatigue this week. If the southpaw is cleared to resume throwing, he will begin with bullpen sessions. We wouldn't count on anything, but Mets general manager Sandy Alderson hasn't ruled him out for the season yet.

Johan Santana has been diagnosed with shoulder fatigue.
It's only a minor setback. Santana will refrain from picking up a baseball for a week before attempting to resume his throwing program. He was aiming to return to the Mets' rotation in late August, but mid-September now looks to be more realistic.

Johan Santana will be examined by doctors in New York on Thursday after feeling discomfort in his surgically-repaired shoulder.
We can safely call this a setback. Santana threw three scoreless innings last Thursday in his first minor league rehab start with High-A St. Lucie, but won't pitch again until he is cleared by doctors. The Mets obviously aren't going to take any chances if he is still feeling discomfort, so it's probably time to scale back any expectations of him returning this season.

Johan Santana (shoulder) will not make his next minor league rehab start until Thursday.
Santana was previously scheduled to pitch Tuesday, but Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said that he didn't feel as strong as he wanted to following his first rehab outing last Thursday. The southpaw isn't dealing with any pain, but let this serve as a reminder that anything the Mets get out of him this season should be considered a bonus.

The Mets could move to a six-man rotation when Johan Santana (shoulder) returns from the disabled list.
Santana's 30-day rehab assignment is scheduled to end on August 27, and a lot can change over the course of a month. That being said, no one in the current rotation deserves the boot, meaning Terry Collins could choose to expand the staff if no one pitches their way out of a job between now and the end of August.

Though Mets manager Terry Collins said he got "great" reports on Johan Santana's (shoulder) first rehab outing Thursday, he cautioned that the lefty still "has got a long road ahead."
"He certainly has got a long road ahead," Collins said. "When he starts to get six and seven innings and up to 85- or 90-pitch range, then I'll start to really think about it." Santana, who tossed three scoreless innings in the outing for High-A St. Lucie, is expected to need about a month's worth of rehab starts, putting him on track to return in late August if all goes well.

Johan Santana (shoulder) tossed three scoreless innings Thursday in his rehab debut at High-A St. Lucie.
Santana yielded only two hits and struck out three Single-A hitters while needing only 33 total pitches. The left-hander is expected to spend close to a month making rehab appearances before the Mets allow him back into the major league rotation.
