Joey Votto reached base in all five plate appearances in a 4-3, 10-inning win over the Dodgers on Saturday.
He finished 2-for-2 with a double, three walks and a run scored. The Cincinnati Enquirer ran a story on its website Thursday in which Votto struggled to define the reasons for his recent struggles. Eventually, he concluded, "I feel really good at the plate. And I honestly I don't understand it. It doesn't make sense to me." Since that article went live, Votto has reached base in 11 of 14 plate appearances (.786 OBP), going 4-for-7 with seven walks in Cincinnati's three wins. Votto is slashing .305/.432/.498.

Joey Votto cannot pinpoint the source of his current struggles.
Votto is batting .186 since August 10, which has slashed his average from .325 to .301. "I genuinely do not have a single explanation for it," Votto said. "I feel really good at the plate. And I honestly I don't understand it. It doesn't make sense to me." Votto said his left knee -- operated on twice last year -- is not to blame. "I haven't felt this good in a long time, since before the surgery," he said. "This has nothing to do with the knee at all."

Joey Votto launched his 21st home run of the year Monday in the Reds' win over the visiting Cardinals.
Votto's solo blast over the left field fence in the bottom of the fourth inning pushed the Reds' lead to 6-2 and they wound up winning the game 7-2. Votto is batting .306/.430/.498 with 64 RBI in 138 games played.

Joey Votto's sacrifice fly in the 13th inning pushed the Reds to a 3-2 win against the Padres on Sunday.
Tim Stauffer couldn't survive the horrific situation he placed himself into: Bases loaded, one out, Votto batting. Stauffer inexplicably walked Jack Hannahan (.213/.317/.269) to lead off the 13th frame, and Hannahan obviously came around to score the winning run. Cincinnati only managed five hits over 13 innings, but survived a scare from the Padres thanks to a nice start from Mike Leake and six shutout innings by the bullpen.

Joey Votto blasted a three-run homer, accounting for all of the Reds' offense in Friday's loss to the Cardinals.
Votto reached all four times in the game, going 2-for-2 with a pair of walks, outside of him though the rest of the Reds' offense managed just four singles and a walk against Shelby Miller and company. Joey Votto went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBI in the Reds' victory over the Giants on Tuesday.
Votto has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games. The first baseman oddly hasn't driven in more than two runs in a game all season, which is why Votto is on pace for just 75 RBI. Sporting an impressive .319 /.434/.508 slash line, we expect an uptick in Votto's run production in the second half.

Joey Votto finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Mariners on Friday.
Votto has now hit safely in eight straight games. With a fantastic .325/.433/.520 batting line, the 29-year-old first baseman continues to be one of the best hitters in the game, but oddly he hasn't driven in more than two runs in a game all season.

Joey Votto went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer and two RBI in the Reds' loss to the Diamondbacks on Friday.
Votto was given his first off day of the season one week ago (although he was called on to pinch hit), and he's been absolutely raking since. The first baseman had a slow start to June, but is 12-for-25 (.480) with a pair of homers over his last six games. He's now batting .330 to go with 13 homers, 37 RBI and 54 runs.

Joey Votto went 2-for-4 and hit his 12th homer in the Reds' victory Monday.
Votto has cooled of late -- he was hitting .236 with one home run in June -- so the nice game tonight was welcome. Maybe he just needed to see the Pirates: he's a lifetime .338 hitter with more walks (55) than strikeouts (53) against Pittsburgh.
