Joey Votto went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, a walk, and a run scored Friday night against the Braves. Votto has thrived since being installed as the Reds' No. 2 hitter, batting .348 (14-for-46) with three home runs, one double, eight RBI, and a .508 on-base percentage. We don't see Bryan Price moving him back down to the third spot anytime soon.

Joey Votto belted a two-run shot in Wednesday's win over the Pirates. Votto's blast off of Francisco Liriano in the seventh inning provided the Reds with a cushion in what had been a 1-0 game. The first baseman now has four longballs on the season and is batting a robust .327/.446/.615. It appears he's going to stick in the No. 2 spot for a while.

Joey Votto went 4-for-4 with a walk and an RBI as the Reds defeated the Pirates on Tuesday. Votto is showing the meaninglessness of spring stats, as he has turned a mediocre spring showing into a hot start to the regular season. Tuesday's four-hit night brought his average up to .333. He seems eager to lead the league in on-base percentage for a fifth consecutive season.

Joey Votto is batting second for a third straight game Monday night against the Pirates. Votto has some of the best on-base ability in the sport, so it makes sense to bat him as high as possible. Billy Hamilton will hit leadoff and Brandon Phillips will hit third in Monday's series-opener with Pittsburgh.

Joey Votto doubled and walked in Saturday's loss to the Rays. Reds manager Bryan Price used Votto out of the No. 2 spot Saturday in an attempt to shake up his offense. The Reds got shut out anyway, but hopefully he sticks with it for a while. While the change could cut into Votto's RBI opportunities somewhat (especially if Billy Hamilton doesn't get on base), the Reds should be trying to maximize his at-bats as much as possible.

Joey Votto is hitting in the second slot in manager Bryan Price's lineup for Saturday's game against the Cardinals. It's the first time that Votto's hit second since the 2008 season. With his focus set on getting on base, as opposed to driving in runs, it actually makes sense to hit him higher in the lineup. Brandon Phillips will hit in the third slot, with Todd Frazier hitting fifth.

Joey Votto launched his first home run of the 2014 season in a losing effort against the Rays on Friday. Votto spoiled David Price's bid for a shutout when he deposited a ninth-inning offering over the wall in right for a solo homer. He finished the night 1-for-3 plus a walk, raising his early season slash to .257/.372/.400. He has just two RBI in the early going though, and many fantasy owners would gladly trade in some of those walks for more run production.

Joey Votto was hitless and struck out twice in three at-bats against the White Sox on Wednesday. Votto has had a tough spring. He is only hitting .250 with 17 strikeouts and six walks in 52 at-bats.

Joey Votto went 2-for-4 in the Reds' 5-4 victory over the Indians on Monday. Both hits were singles. Votto is starting to heat up after a slow start to the spring. He did strike out again, giving him a 13-to-4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in the Cactus League, which is not in line with his usual rate. Regardless, it's not a reason to worry.
