Brewers manager Ron Roenicke announced Friday that Jimmy Nelson will start in place of Yovani Gallardo on Sunday.
Nelson is off to a terrific start at Triple-A Nashville, posting a 1.71 ERA and 58/17 K/BB through his first 58 innings. He's worth a look as a streaming option in mixed leagues.

Brewers pitching prospect Jimmy Nelson has been scratched from his start Friday at Triple-A Nashville.
The speculation is that he could start on Sunday versus the Marlins in place of Yovani Gallardo (ankle). Of course, it's also possible that the Brewers are holding him back just in case. Nelson has certainly pitched well enough to earn a promotion, posting a 1.71 ERA with 58 strikeouts over 58 innings at Nashville.

Brewers right-handed pitching prospect continued his dominant run Wednesday, striking out eight batters in six innings for Triple-A Nashville.
Nelson allowed five base runners (three singles and two walks) and three runs (one earned), lowering his ERA to 2.00 and WHIP to 0.978. He also sports a 8.88 K/9 to go with his sparkling 0.2 HR/9 (one in 45 IP). Nelson and Nashville rotation mate Mike Fiers are ready to pick up innings in Milwaukee, but with the Brewers rotation performing so well, they may need to wait for the seemingly invariable minor injury to open the door.

Brewers right-handed pitching prospect Jimmy Nelson struck out nine batters in seven shutout innings, allowing two hits and one walk for Triple-A Nashville.
Nelson sports a 1.80 ERA with a 0.800 WHIP and 9.0 K/9 through his first four starts of the season. The Brewers rotation is currently pitching out of this world, so Nelson will have to wait for an injury or an extreme regression to the mean. Nelson projects as having the upside of a mid-rotation starter.

Brewers optioned RHP Jimmy Nelson to Triple-A Nashville.
Nelson is the club's top prospect and nearly big league-ready, but there's no room for him in the rotation. The 24-year-old will continue to hone his craft at Triple-A.

Jimmy Nelson pitched well in his first MLB start, allowing one run on one hit and three walks in Saturday's no-decision against the Mets.
Filling in for the injured Wily Peralta, Nelson looked very sharp and incredibly poised on the mound for someone making his first career start. The 24-year-old will head to spring training next year with his sights set on opening the season in the Brewers rotation, and he'll possess significant upside in mixed leagues if he's able to do so.

Jimmy Nelson will get a spot start Saturday vs. the Mets.
Nelson is filling in for Wily Peralta, who was shut down early with a finger blister. Nelson had a 3.67 ERA and 91/50 K/BB ratio in 83 1/3 innings (15 starts) this year at Triple-A Nashville. He's a so-so streaming option.

Jimmy Nelson will not get a start for the Brewers over the final week of the regular season.
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke had mentioned the possibility of Nelson drawing a start in the season's final days, but instead will attempt to get him work in a long-relief outing. The 24-year-old has logged five scoreless innings since joining the Brewers bullpen.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Monday that he'd like to get Jimmy Nelson a start before the end of the season.
Nelson has thrown three perfect relief innings and is coming off a minor league season that saw him post a 3.25 ERA with 163 strikeouts across 152 1/3 frames between Double- and Triple-A. The former second-round pick is one of the team's better pitching prospects.

Brewers purchased the contract of RHP Jimmy Nelson from Triple-A Nashville.
Nelson, 24, had a 3.67 ERA over 15 starts at the Triple-A level and is considered one of the Brewers' top pitching prospects. He'll be used in a middle relief role initially, but could eventually be moved to the starting rotation.
