Jimmy Nelson allowed three runs on four hits over six innings in a no-decision against the Reds on Tuesday. Nelson actually got through six innings with only one run allowed, but things fell apart in the seventh. The Reds got two quick singles and Nelson proceeded to hit Zack Cozart and Ramon Santiago to force in a run, with the second HBP ending his night. Reliever Brandon Kintzler did his best to limit the damage, but the Reds plated one more to saddle Nelson with the no-decision. He walked one and struck out five on the evening. The right-hander is still in search of his second win, and he'll carry a 5.06 ERA into Sunday's meeting with the Mets.

Jimmy Nelson was hammered for eight runs -- six earned -- over 4 1/3 innings Saturday by the Cardinals. Nelson looked hittable from the start, yielding three runs in the first inning, two runs in the second inning, and one in the third. The Cardinals then poured on two more runs in the fifth en route to a 10-2 blowout win. Nelson has been outstanding this year at Triple-A Nashville, but he got a rude awakening at Miller Park on Saturday. The Brewers have lost seven straight games.

Jimmy Nelson will replace Marco Estrada in the Brewers' rotation on Saturday against the Cardinals. The writing had been on the wall, as Estrada has continued to struggle with the longball while Nelson dominated at Triple-A Nashville. The 25-year-old has put up a 1.46 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 114/32 K/BB ratio over 111 innings this season at Nashville and is worth gambling on in all fantasy formats.

Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel suspects the Brewers will call up top pitching prospect Jimmy Nelson to start Saturday against the Cardinals. Nelson was sharp in a spot start in May against the Marlins and owns a lights-out 1.46 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 114/32 K/BB ratio over 111 innings this season at Triple-A Nashville. If he pitches well against second-place St. Louis, he could be up in the majors for good. The 25-year-old right-hander is worth grabbing in all standard mixed fantasy leagues.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Tuesday that the Brewers have had "a lot of discussions" about promoting Jimmy Nelson. "There's been a lot (of discussions)," Roenicke. "We'll have to see, but there have been a lot of discussions. When the timing is right, you do it. We'll see." Nelson has a 22-inning scoreless streak at Triple-A Nashville and boasts a 1.46 ERA and 114/32 K/BB ratio over 111 innings. When asked whether Marco Estrada -- who would surely be the guy Nelson replaced in the rotation -- had a secure spot in the starting five, Roenicke said, "We'll see; we'll see on that."

Brewers right-handed pitching prospect Jimmy Nelson tossed seven shutout innings for Triple-A Nashville on Monday, scattering four hits and two walks while striking out four batters. Nelson has not allowed a run over his last 21 2/3 innings, and is merely waiting for the call-up to become a permanent part of Milwaukee's rotation. He could take the place of Marco Estrada if he is removed from the rotation.

Brewers right-handed pitching prospect Jimmy Nelson struck out 11 batters in his return to Triple-A Nashville, allowing one run over 7 2/3 innings on Saturday. After a successful start against the Marlins, Nelson returned to Triple-A Nashville in particularly dominant fashion, as he allowed just three hits, two walks, and one hit batsman. In their only meeting, he struck out Javier Baez for the second out in the eighth. Nelson is in line for another start for the Brewers if there is a need, but will continue to ply his trade in the minor leagues until an opening presents itself.

Brewers optioned RHP Jimmy Nelson to Triple-A Nashville. Nelson pitched very well in his spot start, hurling 5 2/3 scoreless innings and striking out six in Sunday's victory over the Marlins. He'll be back the next time the Brewers need a replacement in their rotation.

Brewers recalled RHP Jimmy Nelson from Triple-A Nashville. He'll make the start on Sunday against the Marlins in place of the injured Yovani Gallardo (ankle). Nelson earned the promotion by posting a 1.71 ERA and 58/17 K/BB through 58 innings at Nashville. He's expected to make just the one start but isn't a bad streaming option in deeper formats.
