Nelson will start Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Craig Counsell had previously indicated that Nelson would start one game of the twin bill, but didn't specify which one. After the team formally purchased Brandon Woodruff's contract from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday and named him the starter for Game 1, Nelson will be asked to handle the nightcap. Nelson is slated to match up with Marco Gonzales, who like Woodruff, is also making his first start of the season at the MLB level.

Nelson (4-3) struck out six while allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings in Wednesday's win over San Francisco.
EDGE Analysis
The third inning was the only one where he had much of any trouble, as he surrendered an RBI double to Brandon Belt followed by a Buster Posey two-run homer. Otherwise, Nelson cruised, as he often has this season. Once the minor leagues' best pitcher, he's been a subpar major leaguer in prior seasons, but Nelson has improved his control and increased his strikeout rate this year -- and in fact, the .332 BABIP against him suggests that he might yet lower his current 3.45 ERA.

Nelson tossed eight scoreless innings and struck out 11 batters in the Brewers' loss to the Dodgers on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Nelson exited the contest with a 1-0 lead against the Dodgers and Clayton Kershaw, but the Brewers ceded the lead in the ninth inning. While that cost Nelson the win, his outing was of more note, as he gave up just five hits and struck out double-digit batters without issuing a walk for the second straight start. Nelson owned a 5.34 ERA at the end of April, but he has been brilliant since, posting a 1.77 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 42:6 K:BB in 35.2 innings over six starts.

Nelson (3-3) pitched seven innings, allowing one run on seven hits with a season-high 10 strikeouts in Sunday's 9-5 win over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
This was Nelson's most complete performance of the season. While he didn't have to deal with Paul Goldschmidt, he held a formidable Arizona lineup to just seven hits and one run in seven frames. Nelson punched out a season-high 10 and did not walk a single batter. He also helped himself out at the plate, going 1-for-3 with an RBI groundout. Nelson has been inconsistent so far this season, but he has the ability to put up good strikeout numbers. Sunday was the fourth time he's struck out at least eight. Nelson will need to be just as sharp his next time out, as the Brewers host Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers.

Nelson (2-3) allowed four runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out three over five innings in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
The big blow was a two-run homer by Kendrys Morales in the fifth inning, as Nelson gave up at least four runs for the fourth time in his last seven outings. He'll look to rebound Sunday in a tough home matchup against the Diamondbacks.

Nelson (2-2) allowed two runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out eight over six innings in Tuesday's win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
It was Nelson's second straight eight-strikeout performance and his third this season -- he reached eight strikeouts on only two occasions all of last year (32 starts). The right-hander kept the Padres off the board until the sixth inning Tuesday and issued just one walk, lowering his BB/9 to 3.05 (from 4.3 in 2016). His strikeout rate is up as well with improved velocity, but Nelson will face a tough test Sunday as he draws the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Nelson allowed one unearned run on four hits and four walks while striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings during Thursday's loss to Boston. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
This was Nelson's best start of the season, and especially considering the deep and powerful lineup Boston fields. His 3.99 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 7.8 K/9 aren't standout marks for most seasonal settings, but against favorable opponents, Nelson is definitely on the streaming radar and worth considering in daily contests. He has a favorable upcoming road matchup against the Padres at Petco Park next week, too.

Nelson pitched three shutout innings while striking out two hitters, but received no decision Friday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Nelson was removed from the game after a two hour and 26 minute rain delay, though he threw just 30 pitches. He came into this contest having allowed 15 earned runs over his last 15.2 innings covering three starts, and his ERA now sits at 4.83, making him a risky fantasy option. He'll make his next start Thursday against the Red Sox.

Nelson (1-2) allowed five runs on 11 hits and a walk while striking out just two batters over five innings during Saturday's loss to Braves.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old Brewer has now surrendered 16 runs (15 earned) over 15.2 innings through his past three starts for an 8.62 ERA and 2.11 WHIP. Nelson has flashed upside, but his career 4.44 FIP over 85 games is a telling mark. He projects to face St. Louis in his next start.

Nelson (1-0) coughed up seven runs on nine hits and walk while striking out three over 5.1 innings but escaped with a no-decision in Tuesday's 9-7 loss to the Cubs,
EDGE Analysis
After tossing a pair of quality starts to begin the season the right-hander fell back to earth with a thud Tuesday, giving up two-run homers to Kyle Schwarber and Miguel Montero as part of the Cubs' onslaught. While Nelson's 16:3 K:BB through 18.1 innings so far is strong, serving up home runs remain an issue for the 27-year-old, one that will make it tough for him to outperform his career 4.38 ERA. His next start will come Sunday at home against the Cardinals.
