ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Jason Hammel's agents are asking for a three- or four-year deal. We have a hard time seeing that happen after Hammel posted a disappointing 4.97 ERA over 26 starts and three relief appearances this past season. The 31-year-old missed time with a forearm injury and saw his strikeout rate fall considerably from 2012. It might be in his best interests to settle for a one-year deal and test the market again next winter.

Roch Kubatko of MASN tweets that the Orioles have interest in bringing back free agent starter Jason Hammel on an incentive-laden deal. It's a big day for Jason Hammel news. The Indians had interest in the right-hander earlier but soured quickly when they learned of his price tag. The Orioles, with a couple years of familiarity with him, stand to benefit by attaching some playing time incentives on a one-year deal with Hammel to bolster their starting rotation.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Indians have moved on from free agent righty Jason Hammel. That was fast. It took just a few minutes between media reports to learn that the Indians had moved on. Olney suggests the Tribe could take their time and allow the free agent starting pitching market to further develop before potentially circling back to Hamel. Cleveland is certainly in no rush to lock up an injury-prone starter who has finished with an ERA north of 4.75 in three of the past four seasons.

Jon Morosi of FOX Sports tweets that the Indians have spoken to representatives of free agent Jason Hammel. Hammel, now 31 years old, spent the past two seasons with the Orioles. He missed 83 games in 2012 with a knee injury, eventually undergoing surgery in July. He missed 32 games with a strained right elbow. Teams interested in acquiring his services, like the Indians, will have to have his injury history in mind.

Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports that Jason Hammel has "probably" moved up the Angels' target list after Scott Feldman signed with the Astros. Hammel posted a disappointing 4.97 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 139 1/3 innings this year for the Orioles, but he had a much better 3.43 ERA and 1.24 WHIP the year before. He probably won't cost a ton and could prove to be a nice under-the-radar signing if he manages to stay healthy.

Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports that the Giants have requested medical records on free agent Jason Hammel. Hammel posted a disappointing 4.97 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 139 1/3 innings this year for the Orioles, but he had a 3.43 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with Baltimore in 2012. The 31-year-old righty should come relatively cheap and would fit in with the Giants as a fourth or fifth starter.

Jason Hammel pitched well in a no-decision against the Rays on Friday, allowing two runs on six hits over his five innings of work. Hammel struck out three without walking a batter on the night, tossing 77 pitches in his five frames. The 31-year-old hurler is now winless over his last 13 starts dating back to May 27. He'll carry a 5.07 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 91/48 K/BB ratio into his final start of the season when he takes on the Blue Jays at home on Thursday.

Jason Hammel allowed three runs over five innings Friday in a no-decision against the Blue Jays. Hammel gave up just three hits, but a two-run homer by Adam Lind and a solo shot from Colby Rasmus were among. It was his first start since July 28, so he was pulled after throwing just 62 pitches. It's unclear when Hammel will start next with Bud Norris' status up in the air, but he's not a reliable option in mixed fantasy leagues right now.

Jason Hammel will start on Friday in Toronto. Hammel pitched two scoreless innings in relief on Sunday in his first appearance since being activated from the disabled list. He returns to a 5.11 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 125 frames this season. It's not clear whether Bud Norris, who was originally scheduled to start Friday, has been scratched or just pushed back.

The Orioles plan to use Jason Hammel as a reliever for the time being. "You probably won't see him physically available until Saturday. In an emergency, maybe Friday," manager Buck Showalter said. "Obviously, he's pitched well as a starter at times, and for the most part, pitched real well for Colorado out the 'pen before we acquired him. So, it's good to have a couple of ways to go with that." If Hammel does eventually move back into the rotation, Scott Feldman and Bud Norris are probably the most likely candidates to move to the bullpen.
