Hoying went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in Tuesday's 10-8 win over the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
In addition to the strong showing on offense, Hoying made one of the highlights of the night in the field, robbing Jay Bruce of a home run to straightaway center in the third inning. Even after reaching base three times Tuesday, Hoying still sports an unremarkable .278 on-base percentage on the season, but his defensive skills should keep him in the lineup on a fairly regular basis until Carlos Gomez (hamstring) comes off the disabled list.

Hoying will start in center field and bat ninth Wednesday against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
The Rangers have yet to use Joey Gallo in the outfield since Adrian Beltre came off the disabled list earlier this week, but it's expected that he'll gradually see more time in left field with Beltre and Mike Napoli serving as the primary corner infielders. That will result in Hoying and Delino DeShields jockeying for playing time in center field, and for the time being, it looks as though Hoying may have the edge. While he doesn't provide much of an impact at the plate, Hoying is regarded as a stronger defender at the position than DeShields, who hasn't helped his case for regular at-bats by slumping at the plate of late. DeShields is on the bench for the third time in four games and may only receive consistent starts against left-handed pitching until Carlos Gomez (hamstring) returns from the DL.

Hoying is out of the lineup Tuesday against Tampa Bay, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
After starting four games in a row, Hoying will take a seat Tuesday night while Delino DeShields heads to center field. Hoying hasn't done much at the plate over 11 games this season, as he's hitting .235 and striking out in 27 percent of his at-bats.

Hoying went 0-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 10-8 loss to the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Jeff Banister elected to bench Delino DeShields for the second straight game, allowing Hoying to stick in the lineup as the Rangers' center fielder. While Hoying remains the Rangers' top defensive outfielder, third baseman Adrian Beltre's (calf) return from the disabled list Monday could create a domino effect that results in Hoying sitting more frequently. Banister has said the Rangers intend to give Joey Gallo, who had been the everyday third baseman prior to Beltre's return, regular at-bats at either first base or left field going forward. When Gallo plays the outfield, it's likely that two of Hoying, DeShields and Ryan Rua will be forced to the bench.

Hoying is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Left-hander Chris Sale is hurling for Boston on Wednesday, so Hoying will get the night off to avoid a lefty-on-lefty matchup. Delino DeShields will slide over to center field to fill in for him.

Hoying struck out in all four of his at-bats in Friday's 5-3 win over the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Hoying may have piqued some interest in deeper mixed or AL-only leagues after falling a triple shy of the cycle in a four-hit, three-run performance Wednesday against the Phillies, but he's gone just 1-for-11 in his other three starts since being promoted to the big leagues earlier this week. The 28-year-old still figures to see the bulk of starts in center field while Carlos Gomez (hamstring) is sidelined for the next 4-to-6 weeks, but Hoying should be viewed as more of a defensive specialist and is likely to occupy the No. 8 or 9 spot in most games.

Hoying went 4-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and two RBI in Wednesday's 9-3 win over the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Hitting eighth in the order, Hoying paced a 17-hit Rangers attack with his first career major-league home run, a two-run shot in the fifth inning. The 28-year-old has spent most of the last five seasons at Triple-A, hitting 80 homers in 453 games for Round Rock, but he might finally be getting a chance to show that he can stick in the big leagues.

Hoying, who was recalled from Triple-A Round on Tuesday, could see regular reps in center field while he remains with the Rangers, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports. "We are going to let [Hoying] play and see if we can get him going," manager Jeff Banister said.
EDGE Analysis
There was some thought that the Rangers might have Delino DeShields move from left to center field with Carlos Gomez (hamstring) ruled out for 4-to-6 weeks, but it looks like Hoying will instead get the first crack at filling the void in center, at least against right-handed pitching. Hoying went 0-for-3 with a strikeout while batting out of the ninth spot in the lineup during Tuesday's win over the Phillies, and doesn't carry much fantasy intrigue after slashing .242/.336/.477 across 146 plate appearances with Round Rock prior to his promotion. That said, Hoying is regarded as a plus defender in center field, which might be enough to afford him consistent starts at that position over the likes of DeShields and Ryan Rua, who are better suited for corner-outfield duties.

Hoying had his contract purchased from Triple-A Round Rock and will start in center field Tuesday against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Hoying will head to the big leagues to provide outfield depth after Carlos Gomez (hamstring) was placed on the DL. It's unclear if Hoying will fill an everyday role in center field or if he'll split time there with Delino DeShields Jr. or another outfielder, but that should become clearer in the next few days.

Hoying will be called up to the Rangers, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Hoying owned a .242/.336/.477 batting line powered by seven home runs for Triple-A Round Rock. He had an out clause in his contract that could have been exercised Monday, and the Rangers wanted to ensure they held onto the slugging outfielder. Most importantly, Hoying has the ability to play center field, and they'll need somebody else on their roster capable of covering ground with Carlos Gomez out for a month or more.
