Hoying went 0-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 10-8 loss to the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Jeff Banister elected to bench Delino DeShields for the second straight game, allowing Hoying to stick in the lineup as the Rangers' center fielder. While Hoying remains the Rangers' top defensive outfielder, third baseman Adrian Beltre's (calf) return from the disabled list Monday could create a domino effect that results in Hoying sitting more frequently. Banister has said the Rangers intend to give Joey Gallo, who had been the everyday third baseman prior to Beltre's return, regular at-bats at either first base or left field going forward. When Gallo plays the outfield, it's likely that two of Hoying, DeShields and Ryan Rua will be forced to the bench.
