Paxton went seven strong innings, giving up two runs and five hits while striking out seven and walking two in a no-decision Thursday against the Astros.
Paxton pitched seven innings for the first time this season and produced a quality start despite not getting a decision. He's coming off two disastrous starts in a row, so his quality start Thursday is an encouraging sign. Paxton's next scheduled start will be Tuesday against the Angels.

Paxton had five earned runs added to his ledger from Sunday after an official scoring change by Major League Baseball, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Only two of the seven runs against Paxton were initially ruled as earned, but an error on shortstop Willie Bloomquist was changed to a single by Elvis Andrus. As a result, Paxton's ERA ballooned from 5.40 to 8.40 through three starts. The lefty will look to turn things around at home Saturday against the Twins.

Paxton struck out five and walked one while giving up two runs on four hits over six innings in a loss to the Angels on Tuesday night.
All of the damage came on a two-run homer from David Freese in the fourth inning. Paxton threw 52 of his 87 pitches for strikes had a nice outing against a right-handed heavy Angels lineup. As the schedule currently lines up, he'll have a two-start week with turns against the Dodgers (on the road) and the Rangers (at home) next week.

Paxton, a left-hander, could fill the No. 2 spot in the rotation this season to break up right-handers Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma, the Seattle Times reports.
Pitching as the No. 2 starter rather than No. 3 doesn't really mean much. But if this happens, realize it's not for any reason other than to break up the right-hander. Paxton's start to spring was delayed by a freak wrist injury. He's slated to make his first Cactus League start Sunday. Despite the lack of game action, he is expected to be ready for the start of the season.

Paxton (wrist) will make his spring training debut Sunday, Shannon Drayer of ESPN 710 AM reports.
Paxton was initially slated to debut Tuesday, but it was pushed back to Sunday instead. Assuming all goes well, there's a good chance he'll be able to make a start in the first turn of the rotation.

Paxton (wrist) threw three innings (approximately 40 pitches) in a sim game against minor league hitters Tuesday, MLB.com's Chad Thornburg reports.
Paxton expects to pitch again in five days, and says he will "absolutely" be ready to break camp as part of the Mariners' rotation. He threw curveballs and cutters for strikes and was able to move his fastball around a bit Tuesday.

Paxton (wrist) will not make his Cactus League debut Mar. 17 and will instead pitch a simulated game Tuesday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Paxton was originally slated to make his spring debut Tuesday against the White Sox, but it appears the team would like to see him throw again before he returns to game action. He's schedule to throw around 45 pitches in the sim game, and if all goes well he should make his first Cactus League appearance shortly after that.

Paxton (wrist) is scheduled to make his Cactus League debut March 17 against the White Sox, Ryan Divish of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Paxton returned to a mound Friday, logging his first bullpen session since he fell and hurt his wrists doing agility drills in the initial days of spring training. The Mariners were reportedly very pleased with how it went, and the lefty will now toss another bullpen and a live batting practice session before getting into game action. This sets him up to make four spring starts in anticipation of the start of the season.

Paxton (forearm) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Friday and experienced no problems in his first return to the mound since injuring his forearm in a fall during pre-camp drills, the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Paxton took a tumble in an agility drill and braced his fall with both arms, resulting in wrist and forearm soreness. "Feels great," he said. "All fastballs. Next time, I'll start working in my other pitches."
