Paxton (finger) has spent the offseason throwing simulated games at the Mariners' minor league complex in Arizona, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Paxton threw seven simulated innings Monday and will do so again later this week before shutting down for spring training. Among his 13 starts in 2015, seven went at least six innings, while only three reached the seven-inning threshold, which the aforementioned regimen is attempting to remedy as a part of the Mariners' rotation.

Paxton (finger) will not start Wednesday against the Astros. He has been shut down for the remainder of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Lloyd McClendon said Tuesday that Paxton was "highly unlikely" to toe the rubber Wednesday, and sure enough, the team will be forced to turn elsewhere for the series finale against Houston. Tony Zych has been tabbed for the start Wednesday, while Paxton will be given time to rest the finger before pitching in the Arizona Fall League.

Manager Lloyd McClendon said it's highly unlikely that Paxton will start Wednesday, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mariners were hopeful that Paxton would be able to pitch Wednesday, but it appears that will not be the case. It remains to be seen if he will take the ball again before the regular season comes to a close.

The Mariners are hoping Paxton (finger) will be able to pitch Wednesday against the Astros, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
A torn fingernail abruptly ended Paxton's outing Thursday, his third start back after missing more than three months with a strained finger tendon. The M's will give him at least one additional day between starts this time through, with Vidal Nuno now tabbed to start Tuesday on short rest.

Paxton left Thursday's game against the Royals after just 1.1 innings with a torn fingernail.
EDGE Analysis
Paxton allowed two runs on five in the start, but won't add to the statline because of the issue. He had another issue with a finger that cause him to go to the disabled list earlier in season, and it wouldn't be surprising if he's made his last start of the season. If not, his next scheduled start would come Tuesday against the Astros.

Paxton didn't factor into the decision during Friday's win over Texas, giving up one run on six hits and four walks while striking out six over 4.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Poor control was Paxton's Achilles heel as he weaved in and out of trouble on Friday, with 42 of his 88 pitches missing the strike zone. Paxton has walked seven batters in 7.1 innings since returning from a finger injury that cost him virtually the entire summer - a continuation of his poor command from earlier this season. In 12 starts this season, Paxton has a horrific 3.97 BB/9 ratio.

Paxton will make his next start Friday in Texas, the Tacoma News Tribune's Bob Dutton reports.
EDGE Analysis
This tweak will allow Paxton to make an extra start this season. The Mariners are also planning on sending Paxton to the Arizona Fall League as another measure to build up his workload in advance of the 2016 season.

Paxton (3-4) took the loss Sunday against the Rockies after giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits and three walks over three innings.
EDGE Analysis
Making his first start for the Mariners since May 28, Paxton was expected to be capped at 80 to 85 pitches, but manager Lloyd McClendon ended up pulling the right-hander after 66 pitches due to his spotty control. Paxton may still face some restrictions in his upcoming start later this week in Texas, but the Mariners are likely just happy to have him back healthy after a strained middle finger tendon cost him three and a half months of action.

Paxton (finger) has been activated and will take the mound Sunday against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Paxton was already announced as the starter, so this is just an official move. He should remain in the rotation going forward as he looks to continue his rather successful run in the majors each of the past couple seasons.

Paxton (finger) will start Sunday against the Rockies, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Paxton responding well to his bullpen session Thursday, the training staff has signed off on him stepping back onto the major league mound for the first time since May 28. A strained middle finger tendon originally sidelined Paxton, and several setbacks, including a partially torn fingernail and blister most recently, delayed his return to Seattle. The lefty has turned in a 3.70 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 45:22 K:BB in 58.1 innings with the Mariners this season.
