Royals pitching prospect Jake Odorizzi is a candidate to be called up this month. Manager Ned Yost said "a couple of more guys" would be called up from Triple-A Omaha once their season concludes. Indications are that it will be players that are either already on the 40-man roster or those that will need to be added to it in order to be protected from the Rule 5 draft. That would rule out Wil Myers, but Odorizzi qualifies for the latter stipulation. However, he's already at 145 1/3 innings this season and could possibly throw more for Omaha, so the Royals might decide against adding to his workload. The righty boasts a 3.03 ERA and 135/50 K/BB ratio between Double- and Triple-A this year.
