Irvin did not factor into the decision Friday against Oakland, allowing one run on one hit and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Irvin had one of the finest outings of his young career Friday night with the only blemish being a solo home run yielded to Lawrence Butler. The 27-year-old has morphed into a reliable starter for the Nationals as he sports a 4.24 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB over his first 17 innings. However, Irvin draws a much more difficult opponent in his next start, currently scheduled against the Dodgers on the road.

Irving (0-1) allowed four runs on five hits over six innings in a loss to the Phillies on Saturday. He struck out five and issued one walk.
EDGE Analysis
All of the damage against Irvin came in the second and third innings, when the right-hander surrendered an RBI triple to Alec Bohm and later a three-run home run to J.T. Realmuto. Irvin retired nine of the final 10 batters he faced and produced nine swinging strikes in the contest, but he still ended up being tagged with his first loss of the season. The 27-year-old has now allowed seven runs on 12 hits over his first two starts, though he has managed to go at least five innings in each outing.

Irvin did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Reds, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Irvin cruised through the first two innings of his start with three strikeouts while facing the minimum six batters. However, the Reds lineup broke through to post three runs on six hits over his final three innings. Irvin allowed plenty of hard contact, as all batted balls in the fourth and fifth innings were over 95 mph. However, he should be a mainstay in the Nationals rotation after making 24 starts for the team in 2023. Irvin's next outing is scheduled to be against the Phillies on the road.

Irvin allowed only one hit and zero walks over five scoreless innings in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Facing a Miami lineup that features most of its likely Opening Day starters, Irvin delivered a dominant 52 pitches (43 strikes) as he built up ahead of Opening Day. The 27-year-old right-hander has a somewhat stunning 16:2 K:BB through 12.2 spring innings, but considering he managed only an 18.7 percent strikeout rate against a 10.2 walk rate over 121 innings for the Nationals last season, he'll need to keep producing good numbers when the games start to count before he'll draw significant interest from fantasy GMs.

Irvin gave up two hits over four scoreless innings in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets. He struck out five without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old righty made his first start of the spring and looked much better than he had in two prior relief stints, firing 37 of 51 pitches for strikes and having few issues with what could very well have been New York's Opening Day lineup. Irvin is locked into a rotation spot for the Nationals, and while expectations are low after he posted a 4.61 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 18.7 percent strikeout rate over 121 innings as a rookie last season, he does have an intriguing 11:2 K:BB through his first 7.2 frames this spring.

Irvin has only been used in relief this spring but manager Davey Martinez said he will be a part of the starting rotation, MASN reports. Irvin gave up six earned runs on five hits and two walks in 1.2 innings in Friday's spring outing against Houston. "We've got to get him to relax a little bit. He's working on a bunch of different secondary pitches. I'm going to sit down and talk to him: His next outing, just get the ball in the zone and work ahead," said Martinez.
EDGE Analysis
Irvin had struggled to begin the spring by allowing seven earned runs and seven hits in 3.2 innings with a 17.18 ERA in two outings. It sounds like his manager isn't too worried, however. Still, Irvin's job can't be too secure after he had a 4.61 ERA with a mediocre 7.4 K/9 and troublesome 4.0 BB/9 last season.

Irvin was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with right ankle tendinitis, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Irvin suffered the season-ending injury during his start Thursday against Atlanta, in which he surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and three walks over just 2.2 innings of work. He'll finish the 2023 campaign with a 3-7 record, 4.61 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 99:54 K:BB in 121 innings (24 starts) for the Nationals.

Irvin (3-7) took the loss Thursday against Atlanta, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
After tossing a solid 23 innings across four August starts to the tune of a 2.35 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB, Irvin has had a rough time in September. Over four outings this month, he's produced a 6.38 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 15:13 K:BB over 18.1 innings. Irvin looks to turn things around in his next start, scheduled to be against Atlanta again but on the road.

Irvin (3-6) took the loss Friday, giving up four runs on three hits and five walks over 4.2 innings as the Nationals fell 5-3 to the Brewers. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander kept Milwaukee off the board for four innings, but his command and control issues caught up to him in the fifth as two free passes set up a three-run homer for William Contreras. Irvin has walked multiple batters in five straight starts, but he's largely been able to escape the jams he's created, posting a 2.93 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 24:15 K:BB through 27.2 innings over that stretch. He hasn't won a game since July 21 however, limiting his fantasy appeal in traditional 5x5 formats. He'll face a tough matchup in his next outing, likely to come at home next week against Atlanta.

Irvin came away with a no-decision Saturday in the Nationals' 7-6 extra-innings win over the Dodgers, allowing one run on three hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old righty delivered his fourth quality start in his last five outings and out-pitched more heralded rookie Bobby Miller in the process, but Irvin saw his fourth win of the season slip away when Kyle Finnegan blew the save in the ninth. Since the beginning of August, Irvin has produced an impressive 2.65 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 30:12 K:BB through 34 innings as he looks to lock himself into the Nats' 2024 rotation plans. He's next set to take the mound next weekend in Milwaukee.
