Jake Arrieta battled food poisoning on Sunday, but he will start Monday against the Mets. There was some doubt about Arrieta's availability, but he's good to go. The 26-year-old right-hander has an ugly 5.89 ERA this season, but he's coming off his first victory since May 2.

Jake Arrieta held the Pirates to one run on seven hits in seven innings of Wednesday's 7-1 win, striking out nine as he improved to 3-8. Arrieta can thank the game's worst offense for his first victory since May 2. Coming into this evening, Arrieta had failed to complete five innings of work in three consecutive starts. He'll bring a 5.89 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 75/24 K/BB ratio into his Monday start at Citi Field.

Jake Arrieta will start in place of Brian Matusz (nose) on Wednesday against the Pirates. The Orioles moved Arrieta to the bullpen over the weekend, but he's making the emergency start now that Matusz has been scratched. The 26-year-old right-hander has an ugly 6.32 on the year and can be avoided in most fantasy formats, even against the light-hitting Pirates.

The Orioles are expected to option Jake Arrieta to Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday. Arrieta allowed nine runs to the Phillies Friday and will be sent down to work in less-pressured situations where he can figure things out. He'll likely be the corresponding move for Tommy Hunter's return to the starting rotation.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter was noncommittal when asked if Jake Arrieta would make his next scheduled start. "We just got through this game here and we've got off days," Showalter said. "We'll see what's best for Jake and the Baltimore Orioles, but that's the plan right now." Arrieta continued his horrific run in Sunday's loss to the Rays, allowing four runs on two hits and four walks in 4 2/3 innings of work. Over his last six starts, Arrieta is 0-5 with a 7.96 ERA. It's very possible he'll be skipped next time around.

Jake Arrieta struggled in Sunday's loss to the Rays, allowing four runs on two hits and four walks in just 4 2/3 innings of work. Arrieta struck out three in falling to a dismal 2-7. He's now allowed at least four runs in five of his past six starts, ballooning his ERA from 3.52 to 5.53. He's not going to come into any mixed-league value pitching in the American League East.

Jake Arrieta allowed one run on six hits over seven innings Friday in a no-decision against the Nationals. He struck out nine and threw 66 of his 103 pitches for strikes. His lone blemish on the night came on a sixth-inning home run to Ian Desmond. The Orioles' Opening Day starter, Arrieta owns a 4.72 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in nine starts this season.

Jake Arrieta got shelled for the second straight outing Sunday, allowing seven runs on 10 hits in just 3 2/3 innings of Baltimore's loss to the Rays. Arrieta has now allowed 13 runs in his past 10 innings of work, ballooning his ERA from 3.52 to 5.21. It's much more in line with his early-career production, though Arrieta's WHIP and K/BB ratio remain respectable at 1.24, 42/12, respectively. Nevertheless, there's no reason to run him out there in mixed leagues until he's proven he's back on track. Arrieta will get the Nationals in Washington next Friday.

Jake Arrieta was pummeled by the Rangers Tuesday, allowing six runs on nine hits and a walk over 6 1/3 innings. The Rangers got to him early and often, as Arrieta served up two of Josh Hamilton's four bombs on the night and also was taken deep by Adrian Beltre. He was coming off a dominating effort against the Yankees, but it's a reminder that Arrieta has now been knocked around in four of seven starts this season. You should try to sell high if someone will buy. He'll get the Rays this weekend.

Jake Arrieta pitched one of the best games of his young career against the Yankees on Tuesday, allowing just five hits over eight shutout innings. Arrieta fanned nine and didn't walk a batter. He displayed superb command of all his pitches and kept the Yankee hitters off-balance all night. With the win, he evens his record at 2-2 and lowers his ERA to a much more respectable 3.52. He's been very inconsistent in the early part of the season, though you can definitely see that the talent is there. The right-hander will try to build on this strong performance when he faces another dangerous offense Tuesday in the Rangers.
