Arrieta (3-3) gave up five runs (four earned) on nine hits and a walk while striking out seven over 5.1 innings Thursday in a loss to the Cardinals. That's a pair of subpar outings in a row for Arrieta, although you have to like the K:BB numbers he's posting despite the uninviting final lines. He's a good bet to turn it around, and Tuesday's start against the Mets will be his next opportunity.

Arrieta allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings in Saturday's loss to the Brewers, striking out six. It was his worst start to date, but Arrieta still has a strong 2.84 ERA and 31:8 K:BB ratio in 31.2 innings on the year. Last season's breakout performance doesn't appear to have been a fluke, and the Cubs' ace will look to get back to his winning ways on the road against the Cardinals in his next start.

Arrieta will officially push his start against the Reds back to Sunday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports. Arrieta was scheduled to pitch Saturday but the game was postponed due to rain. He never began his warmups for Saturday's contest so the 29-year-old should be at full strength heading into Sunday.

Arrieta was strong in his start Monday, earning the win by holding the Pirates to one run in seven innings while fanning seven. Arrieta has not disappointed this year, allowing just four runs in 20.2 innings this season. He'll try to continue his strong start to the season this weekend when he takes the mound against the Reds this weekend.

Arrieta fanned seven and walked three while allowing just three hits over seven scoreless innings in a win over the Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon. The Cubs needed four relievers to finish the shutout Wednesday, but the bullpen preserved the lead on a day where Arrieta outdueled Lance Lynn. As the Cubs' rotation is currently arranged, Arrieta is scheduled to face Anthony DeSclafani and the Reds on Tuesday next time out.

Arrieta will start Wednesday against the Cardinals, Jesse Rogers of ESPN Chicago reports. Rain and sub-freezing winds in the Chicago area led the Cubs to postpone Tuesday's game, but both Arrieta and Lance Lynn will simply move back to Wednesday. Arrieta struggled in one spring outing (five runs in four innings against the Dodgers) but allowed just one earned run in his other 10 Cactus League innings.

Arrieta won't get to make his first start of the season Tuesday night, as the Cubs' game against the Cardinals has been postponed due to the expectation of inclement weather, CSN Chicago's Patrick Mooney reports. The game probably won't be made up until July or September, and Tuesday's pitching matchup will likely just be bumped back a day to Wednesday. That could end up costing Arrieta a second start next week, but he'd then line up for two outings in the third week of the season.
