Arrieta continues to shine as he allowed just one run on six hits, walking two and striking out seven over eight innings of a 5-1 win against Philadelphia on Friday afternoon.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta (19-6, 1.99 ERA) did allow a run - a second inning solo homer - but it was the only earned run he has given up in five starts. With 19 wins and a steadily falling 1.99 ERA it would be difficult for the Cubs' ace to make a better case for a Cy Young award.

Arrieta's start Thursday has been postponed, Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
The game will be made up Friday as part of a doubleheader, and Arrieta will pitch one of the two contests. It shouldn't really change much besides that, but luckily the Cubs have a day off next Monday, allowing the pitchers to pitch on normal rest.

Arrieta won his 18th game of the season Saturday, allowing just four hits over eight shutout innings while striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Well, it's not a no-hitter, but you won't hear any complaints from Cubs fans or anyone with shares in Arrieta. He now hasn't allowed an earned run in four straight starts, and he'll look to continue his dominant run on the road against the Phillies on Thursday.

Arrieta (17-6) threw his first no-hitter of his career, striking out 12 batters in a dominant win over the Dodgers on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta needed just 116 pitches to complete the feat, striking out the side in the ninth inning to record the first no-hitter by a Cubs' pitcher since Carlos Zambrano completed one in 2008. His no-no was the sixth one recorded in MLB this year, the last of which came nine days ago when Mike Fiers fired one against these same Dodgers. Arrieta joined Red Sox starter Joe Kelly as the only other pitcher with six wins in the month of August, and finished the month with a sterling 0.43 ERA and 0.70 WHIP. He will take the mound in another start on Saturday, this time against the Diamondbacks.

Arrieta improved to 16-6 as he allowed just one unearned run on four hits and a walk over six innings Tuesday against San Francisco. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
The Arrieta for Cy Young bandwagon is justifiably as loud as it has been all season, as his ERA is now down to 2.22 to go with an excellent 170:42 K:BB in 168 innings. His quality start streak is now extended to 16, as he hasn't failed to record one since June 16 against Cleveland.

Arrieta was excellent against the White Sox on Sunday, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out nine in a complete game victory. The 29-year-old was only scored upon via sacrifice bunt in the sixth inning and even added a home run of his own at the plate for good measure. Arrieta now has a 10-5 record to go along with a 2.66 ERA and is next scheduled to start Sunday against the Braves.

Arrieta struck out four and walked two while holding the Cards to two runs on seven hits over 6.2 innings in a winning effort Tuesday afternoon. The Cubs used Arrieta to start Game 1 of the doubleheader with St. Louis, leaving 26th man Dallas Beeler to pitch in the nightcap. Arrieta is lined up to make his final start of the first half Sunday against the White Sox at Wrigley Field.

Arrieta has been confirmed as the starter for the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports. The Cubs and Cardinals will play two Tuesday with Dallas Beeler taking the hill for the nightcap. Arrieta is coming off of a strong start Thursday in New York during which he allowed just five hits and one earned run over 8.0 innings.

Arrieta (8-5) held the Mets to one run on five hits Thursday afternoon, striking out seven with no walks over eight innings in a 6-1 victory. The Mets have been a ripe target for opposing pitchers lately, but performances like this are nothing new for Arrieta, who's clearly established himself as a front-line starter, with last season no fluke. He's been particularly sparkling over his last three outings -- just two runs on 12 hits with a 21:2 K:BB in 24 innings, all on the road. He'll get a home rematch with the Cardinals (whom he held to one run in seven innings June 26) next week.

Arrieta fanned seven and walked two while holding the Cardinals to one run on three hits over seven innings Friday night. Arrieta did not factor in the decision, however, as the Cubs' bullpen failed to protect the one-run lead that he departed with. For the season, Arrieta has shown that his 2014 breakout is his new baseline, as he's carried a 20.6 K-BB% (26.6% K%, 5.9% BB%) after settling in with a 20.5% mark last season. He'll face the Mets on the road Thursday in his next scheduled start.
