DeGrom (illness) allowed one run on seven hits while striking out 12 across 6.1 innings of work in Monday's intrasquad game, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom looked unbothered by the illness that forced him to push his start back by a day. The right-hander fired 96 pitches and issued no free passes. DeGrom is scheduled for one last abbreviated spring outing before getting the ball against the Nationals on Opening Day (March 28).

DeGrom was scratched from his scheduled spring start Sunday due to an illness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom was originally scheduled to pitch in a "B" game Sunday before falling under the weather. The ailment doesn't appear to be anything overly serious, as the southpaw is expected to take the mound in a minor-league game Monday. DeGrom is still lined up to start Opening Day against the Nationals on regular rest.

DeGrom was touching 99 mph with his fastball in Friday's Grapefruit League start against the Tigers, David Lennon of Newsday.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
While the right-hander thought the stadium radar gun might have been running a little hot, he didn't seem worried about overexerting himself this early in training camp. "It's probably high," deGrom said, trying to suppress a smile. "But I feel good. I think mechanically, everything is kind of in line. I'm not really fighting myself and I actually feel smoother than I even did last year. I felt like it was coming out with less effort." The reigning NL Cy Young Award winner wrapped up his second spring start allowing only one hit over three scoreless innings while striking out four, and even that hit was iffy -- it could easily have been ruled an error by left fielder Tim Tebow. It will be hard for deGrom to replicate last season's 1.70 ERA and 0.91 WHIP, but even with less luck he still seems poised for another elite fantasy campaign.

DeGrom was named the Mets' Opening Day starter Thursday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
In a move that surprises no one, the reigning Cy Young Award winner will get the ball for New York's season opener. DeGrom produced a stellar 1.70 ERA, a 0.91 WHIP and a 269:46 K:BB in 217 frames last season and will look to start 2019 on the right note as he faces off with the Nationals.

DeGrom's representatives informed the Mets on Tuesday that any discussions regarding an contract extension for pitcher will be tabled after Opening Day, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After taking home National League Cy Young honors this past season, deGrom earned a $9.6 million raise for 2019 to bring his salary to $17 million, a record for arbitration-eligible pitchers. Though deGrom would be due another raise next January in his final season of arbitration, he would undoubtedly prefer more long-term security, something the Mets would be motivated to offer him so as to avoid a bidding war when he becomes an unrestricted free agent in the winter of 2020-21. The righty doesn't want the extension talks to be a distraction that lingers into the upcoming season, however, so the two sides will have the next six weeks to work out a new deal or else put those discussions on hold until the offseason.

DeGrom and the Mets agreed to a one-year, $17 million deal Friday, avoiding arbitration, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
The deal represents a record raise for an arbitration-eligible player, per Jeff Passan of ESPN.com, beating the record set by Mookie Betts just hours earlier. It's hard to argue the deal is anything less than what DeGrom deserves after winning the NL Cy Young by posting a 1.70 ERA, striking out 32.2 percent of batters while walking just 5.5 percent.

DeGrom won the 2018 National League Cy Young Award on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, deGrom ran away with the award -- receiving 29 of 30 first place votes -- after leading the majors with a ridiculous 1.70 ERA across 32 starts (217 innings). While the 30-year-old went just 10-9 thanks to poor run support, he made up for his lack of wins (the fewest ever for a Cy Young Award-winning starter) with a 0.91 WHIP, 11.2 K/9, 1.9 BB/9 and 0.4 HR/9.

DeGrom (10-9) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing only two hits over eight scoreless innings while striking out 10 in a 3-0 victory over the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Getting one final chance to state his case for the NL Cy Young, deGrom didn't waste his opportunity, fanning double-digit batters for the seventh time in 13 second-half starts and lowering his MLB-leading ERA to a stunning 1.70. In fact, it's the best ERA by a Met since Dwight Gooden's legendary 1985 campaign, and the third best in franchise history behind Tom Seaver's 1971 season.

DeGrom allowed three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out 12 over seven innings Sunday against the Red Sox. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom gave up all three of his runs in the third inning, but he managed to record four straight scoreless frames to end his outing. He left with the game tied 3-3, but Boston would strike for a run in the bottom of the eighth and hang on for the victory. The 30-year-old has continued to pitch well in the final month of the season, giving up six runs and striking out 27 over 20 frames in September (three starts).

DeGrom (8-9) allowed two runs on three hits and two walks across seven innings Tuesday to take the loss versus the Marlins. He struck out nine.
EDGE Analysis
De Grom didn't allow a hit outside of the fourth inning, but he unfortunately allowed three in a row that inning, culminating in a two-run double by Lewis Brinson. He threw 71 percent of his pitches for strikes and induced eight groundball outs, but he once again received next to no offensive support and bafflingly has a losing record, despite being a frontrunner for the National League Cy Young award. De Grom continues to pitch at the highest level in virtually every turn through the rotation and will take a 1.71 ERA to go along with a 0.95 WHIP into this weekend's scheduled start against the Red Sox.
