He allowed a pair of runs following an error in the fifth inning and gave up an unearned run in the sixth, which unfortunately was enough to sink him to his fifth loss. While the lack of victories in dominant performances such as this are likely frustrating to both DeGrom and his fantasy owners, he continues to pitch at an elite level and has impressively gone 17 straight starts with three earned runs or fewer. He'll next get the ball this weekend against the Pirates.

DeGrom will start Monday's tilt against the Padres following Sunday's rainout, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

DeGrom was slated to toe the rubber for Sunday's series finale against the Yankees, but he'll be bumped back a day due to inclement weather. He'll catch a break and face a much friendlier Padres lineup, after he was supposed to go up against one of the better teams in the American League. DeGrom is in line for two starts this week, as he'll pitch against San Diego and Pittsburgh.

The right-hander threw 73 of 105 pitches for strikes and generated a massive 22 swinging strikes in a dominant performance, but once again the Mets' offense conspired to deny deGrom a win, waiting until the ninth inning to finally put away the Rays. He'll carry a stellar 1.79 ERA into his next outing Wednesday at home against the Phillies.

The right-hander cruised through five scoreless innings before running into trouble in the sixth, serving up a two-run homer to Brian Anderson and then watching Wilmer Flores misplay a tapper down the first-base line by JT Riddle that allowed Justin Bour to score and put the Marlins up for good. DeGrom has now delivered nine straight quality starts for the Mets but somehow emerged with only a 2-4 record over that stretch, and he'll carry a 1.84 ERA into his next outing Friday at home against the Rays.

Manager Mickey Callaway said DeGrom will not pitch Friday due to family issues and instead will take the hill Saturday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

In his place, Corey Oswalt will start Friday's series opener against the Marlins. In addition, Seth Lugo will transition into a bullpen role. Look for DeGrom to provide another quality outing versus Miami after holding them scoreless across seven innings of work during a late-May start.

DeGrom remains stuck at four wins -- his last win came May 18 against the Diamondbacks -- despite his pristine 1.55 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 113:23 K:BB through 14 starts (87.1 innings) this season. Up next for the soon-to-be 30-year-old is a road start against the Rockies at hitter-friendly Coors Field.

With a 1.04 WHIP and 98:21 K:BB through 72.1 innings, deGrom is delivering ace-worthy fantasy numbers everywhere but in wins, where his 4-0 record stands in stark contrast to his eight quality starts in 12 outings. He'll next take the mound Saturday at home against the Yankees.
