The Mets are hopeful deGrom (elbow) will be ready to return from the 10-day injured list next weekend to make a start in the team's three-game series with the Brewers, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom's outlook seems to have taken a major turn for the better in the last 24 hours. It was reported a day ago that deGrom would receive an MRI on Monday after his elbow acted up in a throwing session, but the Mets are now considering cancelling those exams. DeGrom was cleared to play catch in the outfield Saturday and relayed that he felt completely normal during the workout, according to Matt Ehalt of Yahoo Sports. Assuming the Mets concur with deGrom's self-assessment, he may just receive a routine evaluation from team doctors when the Mets return to New York on Monday rather than undergoing the MRI. If nothing concerning is detected at that time, deGrom could get the green light for a bullpen session a couple days later before his availability for the Milwaukee series is determined.

Manager Mickey Callaway said that deGrom (elbow) may not require the MRI that the right-hander was slated to undergo Monday, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
The update comes after deGrom was spotted playing catch on the outfield prior to the Mets' game Saturday against the Cardinals. The right-hander was expected to be shut down from throwing until he had the MRI, but the Mets' team doctors apparently signed off the ace taking part in some light activity. That development offers optimism that even if deGrom ends up receiving the MRI, any scans may just be precautionary more than anything else. He remains on the 10-day injured list and won't be eligible to return until April 26, but it's still unclear if he'll be on track for activation in the minimum amount of time.

DeGrom (elbow) will be placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom is set to undergo an MRI on Friday, but the Mets will act with caution here by placing their ace on the injured list due to "mild soreness." He'll be available to return Apr. 26 against the Brewers if his imaging results bring good news.

DeGrom (illness) is heading to New York for an MRI on his elbow Friday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom's elbow apparently started acting up while the pitcher played catch Friday. His scheduled start Saturday against the Cardinals now appears to be in doubt while the Mets await test results to see whether or not he's in line for a longer absence.

DeGrom is dealing with strep throat and will have his next start bumped back from Friday to Saturday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The minor delay should have minimal effect on deGrom's fantasy value, as he'll still be facing the Cardinals. It will have a slight effect on him next week, as he'll be lined up to throw Friday against the Brewers instead of Wednesday against the Phillies, but both of those offenses have been similarly effective. Jason Vargas will now start Friday rather than Saturday this week.

DeGrom (2-2) allowed three runs on four walks and five hits in five innings Sunday, taking the loss against Atlanta. He struck out nine batters and yielded two home runs.
EDGE Analysis
For the first time since early 2018 deGrom doesn't look like a man among boys on the mound. He's given up nine runs over nine innings in his last two outings -- including five homers -- after 13 scoreless frames to start the year. The reigning NL Cy Young winner was terribly inefficient, needing a whopping 114 pitches Sunday. He'll look to break the losing streak against St. Louis on Saturday.

DeGrom (2-1) took the loss against the Twins on Tuesday as he allowed six runs on eight hits over four innings. He struck out three and walked one.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom entered the game with 26 consecutive quality starts -- tying Bob Gibson's major-league record -- dating back to last May, but clearly didn't have his best stuff Tuesday. The 30-year-old's major issue versus the Twins was the home-run ball, as Mitch Garver had two solo shots and Eddie Rosario hit a two-run blast. Despite the ugly outing, deGrom still has a 3.18 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 27:3 K:BB across 17 innings this year, which speaks to his utter dominance during his first two starts. He is next scheduled to take the mound Sunday against the Braves.

DeGrom (2-0) allowed three hits and one walk while striking out 14 across seven scoreless innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom was dominant once again, with only one runner reaching scoring position across his seven innings of work. He has now opened the season with 13 scoreless innings, generating 24 strikeouts in the process. His two wins are also a welcomed development after he managed just 10 wins last season despite stellar ratios.

deGrom (1-0) allowed five hits and a walk and struck out 10 across six scoreless innings in his first win of the season Thursday against Washington.
EDGE Analysis
deGrom blanked the Nationals over six frames and got the little run support he needed to kick off the 2019 campaign with a victory. The 30-year-old right-hander was dominant in 2018, posting a 1.70 ERA with 269 punchouts over 217 frames, although he notched just 10 wins due to a lacking offense. The Mets will aim to flip the script for their ace in 2019.

DeGrom and the Mets agreed Tuesday on a five-year, $137.5 million contract extension, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom becomes the latest top-flight ace to secure an extension within the past week, joining Boston's Chris Sale (five years, $145 million) and Houston's Justin Verlander (two years, $66 million). According to Passan, deGrom's contract includes an opt-out clause after the 2022 season and a club option for 2024, potentially keeping him under club control for up to six more years. DeGrom will look to build on his Cy Young-winning campaign from a season ago when he takes the hill for the Mets' Opening Day game Thursday in Washington.
