Flaherty (0-1) took the loss against San Diego on Saturday, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks while striking out two batters over 4.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Flaherty actually retired the first eight batters he faced, but he then gave up three straight singles with two outs in the third inning to allow a run to score, and another Padre crossed the plate on a subsequent fielding error. After an uneventful fourth frame, Flaherty walked three straight batters with one out in the fifth before being pulled. Overall, he tossed just 49 of 89 pitches for strikes, though much of his control issues came late in the outing. Flaherty will look for better results his next time on the mound, which is tentatively slated to be next Saturday at home against St. Louis.

Flaherty tossed three scoreless innings in an exhibition game versus Team Panama on Wednesday. He allowed two hits and struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Flaherty looked sharp against a World Baseball Classic squad getting ready for that tournament, and he once again posted a solid strikeout total. The righty now has eight of them this spring in six innings across two Grapefruit League appearances as well as Wednesday's exhibition tilt. Flaherty had a K/9 of at least 10.5 in each of the last two seasons, and it looks like he'll be a strong asset in that category once again in 2026.

Flaherty allowed a run on a hit and a walk across two innings of work in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Flaherty has been eased in to action so far this spring, as he's logged just three innings across two Grapefruit League appearances so far, but he shouldn't need much work to get ready for the year. The veteran righty is coming off of an up-and-down 2025 campaign when he posted a 4.64 ERA across 161 regular-season innings but also struck out 188 batters. Flaherty had a much sharper 3.17 ERA in 2024, his first season with the Tigers before getting traded to the Dodgers at the deadline that year. He should slot into the middle of Detroit's rotation in 2026, potentially righty behind Tarik Skubal and new addition Framber Valdez.

Flaherty will remain with the Tigers after electing not to opt out of his $20 million contract for 2026, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Flaherty surely could have received more guaranteed money on the open market, but he has decided to stay put following an up-and-down 2025 campaign. The right-hander posted a 4.64 ERA across 31 regular-season starts for the Tigers, but he also fanned 188 batters over 161 innings. Staying put at Comerica Park and having what should be an above-average offense to support him help Flaherty's case for 2026.

Flaherty took the loss in Game 3 of the ALDS against Seattle on Tuesday after giving up four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out six batters across 3.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old righty allowed just one man to reach base through two innings following a three-hour rain delay, but things took a turn at the start of the third frame after consecutive hits from Victor Robles, J.P. Crawford and Randy Arozarena allowed the Mariners to take a 2-0 lead. Flaherty came back out for the fourth frame but was quickly pulled after allowing a leadoff homer to Eugenio Suarez and walking Victor Robles, who eventually came around to score. The Tigers now find themselves on the brink of elimination, and Flaherty likely won't be available to pitch in relief for the rest of the series after needing 76 pitches to collect 10 outs Tuesday.

Flaherty is expected to draw the start on the mound in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Mariners on Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Flaherty will be back on the mound when the team returns to Detroit, looking to build off of his last outing in Game 3 of the Tigers' wild-card round series versus Cleveland. The right-hander tossed 4.2 innings, allowing one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out four batters against the Guardians. Flaherty drew one start versus the Mariners during the regular season, pitching five innings and surrendering two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven batters July 13.

Flaherty didn't factor into the decision in Thursday's 6-3 win over Cleveland, allowing one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out four batters across 4.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Flaherty turned in a very strong performance in Thursday's do-or-die meeting, giving up just one run on an RBI single from Jose Ramirez in the fourth inning. The right-hander wasn't able to make it through the fifth inning, however, which kept him from earning the win once Detroit took the lead on a sixth-inning homer from Dillon Dingler. Now that the Tigers have earned the right to face the Mariners in the ALDS, Flaherty figures to make at least one more start in the postseason -- possibly during Game 3 on Tuesday.

Flaherty (8-15) took the loss Wednesday, giving up three runs on five hits over 4.1 innings as the Tigers were downed 5-1 by the Guardians. He struck out six without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran righty didn't pitch poorly, tossing 55 of 83 pitches for strikes before getting an early hook, but Detroit's offense stayed quiet. Since an eight-run meltdown Aug. 24, Flaherty has delivered a solid 3.33 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 23:9 K:BB over 24.1 innings in five starts, but that hasn't been enough to stop an epic collapse by the Tigers, who have squandered a 15.5-game lead in the AL Central and now sit one game back of the Guardians with four contests left on the schedule. Unless he's needed over the final weekend in an all-hands-on-deck scenario, Flaherty wraps up his 2025 campaign with a 4.64 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 188:59 K:BB though 161 innings.

Flaherty (8-14) allowed one run on three hits across five innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Guardians. He walked four and struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Flaherty mostly pitched well, though he struggled a bit with command and also got zero run support in a 4-0 win for the Guardians. The veteran righty has been up-and-down all season, while his 14 losses are twice as many as he had in 2024 and easily a new career high. Flaherty has at least looked fairly sharp over his last two outings, allowing just one run across 10 innings while striking out 11. He'll look to carry some momentum into his next trip to the mound, which is currently scheduled for Tuesday against this same Cleveland squad.

Flaherty (8-13) tossed five scoreless innings to earn the win in Wednesday's 11-1 victory over the Yankees. He allowed two hits and a walk, while striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Flaherty has been up and down recently, and Wednesday's sharp outing continued the trend. In his last four starts, he's alternated clunkers (eight runs allowed in five innings and four runs allowed in 4.1 innings) with good outings (one run allowed in 5.2 innings and no runs allowed in five innings). Overall, Flaherty is sitting with a 4.69 ERA across 151.2 innings this season, which is a sharp jump from the 3.17 ERA he posted in 162 regular-season innings last year while playing for both the Dodgers and Tigers. He is at least continuing to miss bats at a high rate with a 10.6 K/9 in 2025, down slightly from 10.8 in 2024. The veteran righty will look to string together some good starts, starting with his next scheduled trip to the mound Tuesday against Cleveland.
