Gio Gonzalez surrendered five earned runs in three innings Saturday in a loss to the Mets. It was the second straight rough-up for Gonzalez, who has watched his ERA rise from 2.91 on May 4 to the 4.62 mark where it sits today. The Mets got to him for seven hits and two walks. Gio will try to get back on track in his next start against the Pirates at PNC Park. There's no reason to panic yet with the fantasy ace.

Gio Gonzalez was lit up in Sunday's start, allowing seven runs on nine hits over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Athletics. The win will go to the team, but Gonzalez was really beaten single-handedly by Derek Norris. The A's catcher launched two three-run home runs off Gio, the man he was traded for in 2011. Along with the nine hits, Gonzalez walked three while striking out four. His ERA raised from 2.91 to 3.97 with the loss. He'll look for a better performance against the Mets on Saturday.

Gio Gonzalez allowed one run while striking out seven over 7 1/3 innings but took the loss against the Nationals on Sunday. It was a tough-luck loss for the left-hander, as his offense provided him with zero run support in the game. Gonzalez gave up just four hits and two walks in the game; unfortunately for him, two of those were a first-inning triple by Jimmy Rollins and an RBI single by Chase Utley. Gonzalez is 3-2 with a 2.91 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 45/15 K/BB ratio through seven starts. Gonzalez owners will hope for some better luck Saturday at the Athletics.

Gio Gonzalez struck out nine while allowing three runs over six innings of a no-decision against the Astros on Tuesday. Gonzalez allowed a leadoff double but got two outs in the third inning before the Astros recorded three straight hits to take a 3-2 lead. The Nationals would eventually get him off the hook for the loss, keeping his record at 3-1. He'll carry a 3.25 ERA and 1.14 WHIP into Monday's start against the Dodgers.

Nationals manager Matt Williams said Thursday that Gio Gonzalez (shoulder) is dealing with normal soreness. Gonzalez was removed in the sixth inning Wednesday with shoulder tightness, but the Nationals aren't alarmed yet. The real test will be to see how he responds to a bullpen session Saturday.

Nationals manager Matt Williams said Gio Gonzalez was removed from Wednesday's game with some shoulder tightness. It explains why Gonzalez was removed after allowing just one run through two batters in the sixth inning. Williams said he doesn't consider it to be a big deal, with Gio saying he expects to make his next start. Still, anytime a shoulder is involved it's worth monitoring the situation.

Gio Gonzalez limited the Cardinals to just one run over seven innings Friday in a 3-1 win. Nice to see after he was knocked around for six runs last time out. Gonzalez gave up just four hits (three of them singles) and one walk. The only run scored on an RBI single by Mark Ellis in the fourth inning. He struck out seven batters in the victory. Gonzalez now owns a 2.88 ERA and 24/8 K/BB ratio in 25 innings across four starts. He'll get the Angels next week.

Gio Gonzalez was lit up for six earned runs in six innings Sunday as the Nationals fell to the Braves. Atlanta jumped on Gonzalez right out of the gate, tallying three runs in the bottom of the first inning and three more in the bottom of the second. Gio was solid in his first two starts of the season and will try to get back on track next time out against the Cardinals. It's a tough matchup.

Gio Gonzalez earned his first win of the season in Wednesday's start against the Mets, allowing one run over six innings. Gonzalez also homered, blasting a solo shot to left-center off of Bartolo Colon in the fifth inning to put his team up 3-1. On the mound, the lefty allowed only three hits and walked one while striking out six. Gonzalez has posted an ERA of 3.36 or lower in each of the past four seasons and seems poised to continue the streak in 2014.
