Gonzalez was put on paternity leave Saturday, Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Gonzalez heads to the paternity list, Erick Fedde was officially recalled in order to make a spot start in his place for Sunday's series finale against the Cubs. Moving forward, Gonzalez will likely slide back into the rotation during the middle of next week against the Marlins.

Gonzalez is expected to be placed on the paternity list in the coming days, Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez's wife is pregnant with the couple's second child and is expected to give birth later this week, so it's looking unlikely that the lefty, who carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning of his outing Monday against the Marlins, will be with the Nationals to make a second start this week Saturday against the Cubs. Since Stephen Strasburg (elbow) also seems unlikely to return from the disabled list this week, the Nationals may be forced to turn to Erick Fedde, who started the first game of a July 30 doubleheader with the Rockies, for a spot start over the weekend if Gonzalez is away from the team.

Gonzalez (9-5) pitched eight scoreless innings with just a single hit allowed and five strikeouts during Monday's win over Miami.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez cruised through a strong Miami lineup and took a no-hitter into the eighth inning. He's now allowed just two runs while striking out 13 batters through 15 innings over his past two starts. and the strong stretch has the lefty sporting a rock-solid 2.66 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 8.4 K/9 for the campaign. Gonzalez lines up to face the Cubs at Wrigley Field in his next start.

Gonzalez held Milwaukee to two runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings in a no-decision Wednesday. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
He actually left the game in line to lose, but the Nats exploded for seven runs in the eighth inning. This was a fine bounce-back effort for Gonzalez after he turned in an unimpressive performance against the Angels his last time out. He's surprised by posting his best numbers in a long while this year, as he holds a career-best 2.81 ERA while his 1.18 WHIP is his second-best mark. Gonzalez will next toe the rubber Monday at Miami.

Gonzalez (8-5) gave up four runs on five hits and three walks over 5.2 innings in Wednesday's 7-0 loss to the Angels. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
It was the first time since May 25 that Gonzalez hadn't lasted at least six innings, breaking an impressive string of nine straight quality starts for the left-hander. He'll still take a career-best 2.83 ERA into his next outing Tuesday at home against the Brewers.

Gonzalez (8-4) tossed 8.1 scoreless innings Friday, scattering four hits and two walks while striking out six in a 5-0 win over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
He threw 74 of 113 pitches for strikes and didn't allow a runner past second base in delivering his ninth straight quality start and 15th of the season. Gonzalez will take a 2.66 ERA into his next outing Wednesday on the road against Mike Trout and the Angels.

Gonzalez (7-4) allowed three runs on seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts over six innings in Thursday's loss to Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez's run support has dried up of late, as he's lost three straight starts despite allowing a total of five runs in 19 innings during that stretch. Interestingly, the veteran lefty's ERA sits at a career-low 2.86 even though his 4.19 FIP and 4.28 xFIP represent Gonzalez's worst marks since joining the Nationals in 2012. His first start after the All-Star break is scheduled for Saturday in Cincinnati.

Gonzalez (7-3) allowed a single run on just two hits and two walks while striking out nine batters over seven innings during Saturday's loss to St. Louis.
EDGE Analysis
Considering the Nationals are the highest-scoring club in the National League, it's extremely unlucky that Gonzalez has lost consecutive games despite allowing just a single run in each. He's sporting a high-end 2.77 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 8.7 K/9 for the year, and even with consecutive unfortunate losses, the lefty already has seven wins. Gonzalez's 4.17 FIP could prove to be an indicator that he's overachieving, but the veteran has also allowed three runs or fewer in 15 of 17 starts this year. He projects to face the Braves at home in his next start.

Gonzalez (7-2) allowed one run on two hits and five walks across six innings in Monday's loss to the Cubs. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
Although he struggled a bit with his command, Gonzalez pitched effectively and was only scored upon via a leadoff home run from Wilson Contreras. The lefty labored through six frames with 113 pitches, but the offense failed to plate a run until their comeback attempt fell short in the ninth, sending him into the loss column for just the second time in 2017. Gonzalez's outing also continued a recent trend of elevated strikeout totals, which pushed his K/9 up to 10.4 over his last 26 innings. He also owns a sharp 2.84 ERA for the season and will look to continue his strong form Saturday against the Cardinals.
