Evan Gattis tested his injured quadricips by running on Saturday, and though he still feels it a bit, he hopes to return to the Braves lineup on Monday. The Braves starting backstop has been limited to just 40 plate appearances this spring, where he's slashed .225/.225/.400 with a 10/0 K/BB ratio. He has prodigious power, but his batting average and counting stats may leave much to be desired from a fantasy perspective.

Evan Gattis (quad) remains out of the Braves starting lineup on Saturday. The 27-year-old backstop has been sidelined since Wednesday due to soreness in his right quad. He'll participate in base running drills on Saturday and admitted to feeling better, so being in the Opening Day lineup shouldn't be a problem.

Evan Gattis (quad) remained out of the Braves' lineup Friday. He's been out since Wednesday with a sore right quad. However, Gattis said he'd be playing if it were the regular season, so the ailment isn't something to worry about unless it gets worse.

Evan Gattis was scratched from Wednesday's lineup with a sore quad. Consider him day-to-day. The Braves want Gattis to catch about 100-110 games this season while also logging some time at first base and the outfield. El Oso Blanco's eye-opening rookie campaign ended with a .243/.291/.480 slash line and 21 homers and 65 RBI in 105 games.

Evan Gattis revealed Friday that he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee last October. The procedure was to remove a dime-sized bone chip that Gattis said had been "floating around" in his knee since around 2006. "The doctor did a really good job," Gattis said. "I came back good. But I had a fragment floating around for, like, the last seven years. So I had that cleaned out, just smoothed it out." Gattis hadn't caught consecutive games this spring until Thursday, and now we know why the Braves were careful with him. The Braves plan to catch Gattis about 100-110 games this season while also giving him occasional time at first base and the outfield.

Evan Gattis hit his first spring homer Wednesday as a Braves split-squad beat the Marlins 3-1. Gattis is hitting .226 with an 8/0 K/BB ratio in 31 at-bats this spring. The Braves appear committed to opening the season with him in the cleanup spot, but he's going to have to make consistent contact to stay there. While we expect him to rank among the major leaguer leaders in homers among catchers, we're not so sure that he'll be able to keep his average over .250.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Monday that he's leaning toward batting Evan Gattis cleanup this season. It's not a surprise, as that's where Gattis most often hit last year when he was in the lineup. He'll be preceded in the lineup by Jason Heyward, Justin Upton and Freddie Freeman. Gonzalez also revealed that he expects Gattis to start 100-110 games behind the plate while seeing spot duty at first base and in the outfield.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Tuesday that he has told Evan Gattis that he will be the everyday catcher in 2014. That was the assumption after Brian McCann signed with the Yankees, but it's now confirmed. Gattis hit .241 with 21 home runs and 65 RBI over 105 games as a rookie this past season and should be relevant in most mixed fantasy leagues in 2014.

Evan Gattis will bat cleanup in Game 1 of the NLDS against the Dodgers. Gattis has slowed down a bit since the All-Star break, but he produced five homers and an .808 OPS against southpaws for the year. That's enough for him to get the nod in the outfield, with B.J. Upton taking a seat on the bench. The Braves' lineup: Jason Heyward CF, Justin Upton RF, Freddie Freeman 1B, Gattis LF, Brian McCann C, Chris Johnson 3B, Andrelton Simmons SS, Elliot Johnson 2B, Kris Medlen P.

Evan Gattis finished 3-for-5 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI in Sunday's season finale victory against the Phillies. El Oso Blanco ends his eye-opening rookie campaign with a .243/.291/.480 slash line and 21 homers and 65 RBI in 105 games. Employing both Gattis and Christian Bethancourt gives Atlanta the luxury of potentially allowing Brian McCann to walk this winter.
