Braves placed C Evan Gattis on the 15-day disabled list with a strained oblique. No word on how or when the injury occurred, but oblique strains usually require some extended rest. Gattis has been one of the best stories in baseball this season, coming out of nowhere to hit .252 with 14 home runs and a .894 OPS in 53 games. Tyler Pastornicky will take his place on the active roster while Gerald Laird will function as the primary backup to Brian McCann.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez expects Evan Gattis to make back-to-back starts during their upcoming five-game series with the Mets. Gattis hasn't been in the Braves' lineup since Wednesday, but is expected to start consecutive games at left field and catcher this week. "We got to put him in there," Gonzalez said. "Looking forward, I think we'll get him in there a couple days in a row with the doubleheader on Tuesday."

Evan Gattis launched his 13th home run of the season in the Braves' defeat of the Pirates on Wednesday. It was a sixth-inning solo shot off Pirates reliever Vin Mazzaro. Gattis still has an underwhelming .270 batting average and .337 on-base percentage, but he's slugging .608 -- which ranks third in the National League. The big man is a nice piece in daily lineup leagues.

Evan Gattis will serve as the designated hitter again Tuesday. Gattis went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and a double in Monday's loss to the Jays and has four homers in his last 18 at-bats. Make sure to put him into your lineup in daily leagues.

Getting to DH in Toronto, Evan Gattis went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and a double in Monday's loss. It was Gattis' second three-hit game as a major leaguer, the other coming back on April 5. He has four homers in just 14 at-bats since May 18. The Braves will certainly find room for him in the lineup again Tuesday.

Making his first start in eight days, Evan Gattis hit his first grand slam Wednesday against the Twins. Gattis had two homers off the bench since his previous start on May 14. He has 10 homers in just 122 at-bats on the season. It's hard for the Braves to find playing time for him with Brian McCann and Jason Heyward back, but they have to do a better job than this of mixing him in.

Evan Gattis hit his ninth home run of the season in the Braves' late win over the Twins on Tuesday. It was another pinch-hit home run and it sent the game to extra innings. Gattis still has a weak .302 on-base percentage and doesn't play enough anymore to carry relevance in mixed fantasy leagues, but he should remain a dangerous bat off the Atlanta bench all year.

Evan Gattis went 2-for-4 in the Braves' loss to the Giants on Saturday in San Francisco. Gattis did not look comfortable in left field, but it was the exact opposite for him at the plate. He doubled and singled, and now boasts an .826 OPS in 29 games.

Evan Gattis is starting in left field for the second straight day on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Brian McCann is back behind the plate and Justin Upton will make another start in right field. The Braves are willing to live with Gattis' inexperience in the outfield in order to keep his bat in the lineup, but his fantasy value will take a real hit once Jason Heyward (appendectomy) is ready to return from the disabled list.

Evan Gattis is batting fifth and playing left field in Monday evening's series-opener against the Reds. It will be his first time playing the outfield in a major league game. Brian McCann (shoulder) is catching and batting sixth in his first game back from the disabled list, and Justin Upton is playing right field and hitting third. The Braves will do all they can to keep Gattis active but the return of McCann does dent his fantasy value.
