Cardinals manager Tony La Russa revealed on the team's pre-game show on FOX Sports Midwest Wednesday that Edwin Jackson will debut with his new team Friday against the Cubs. Not a bad way to welcome Jackson to the club, throwing him out there against a hated rival his first time out. He will go on normal rest Friday, with Kyle Lohse being pushed back a day to Saturday. Jackson is in the midst of the best season of his career and should fare well back in the NL and working with renowned pitching coach Dave Duncan.

Cardinals acquired RHPs Edwin Jackson and Octavio Dotel, LHP Marc Rzepcynzki, OF Corey Patterson and three players to be named later or cash considerations from the Blue Jays for OF Colby Rasmus, LHPs Trever Miller and Brian Tallet and RHP P.J. Walters. This deal may very well be frowned upon a couple of years from now, but the Cardinals could actually benefit in the short-term. Jackson, 27, has a 3.92 ERA and 97/39 K/BB ratio over 19 starts this season and could finish off his contract year in a big way with the move to the National League and the opportunity to work with yet another respected pitching coach. Furthermore, his acquisition sets the stage for Kyle McClellan to move back to the bullpen, where he could be an asset down the stretch.

Blue Jays acquired RHP Edwin Jackson and INF Mark Teahen from the White Sox for RHPs Jason Frasor and Zach Stewart. Toronto is just a temporary stop for Jackson, who is expected to be flipped to the Cardinals for Colby Rasmus. Jackson, 27, has a 3.92 ERA and 97/39 K/BB ratio over 19 starts this season. He will be a free agent following the season.

Jon Heyman of SI.com hears that if the Blue Jays acquire Edwin Jackson, they may attempt to flip him to the Cardinals. We're getting a bit ahead of ourselves here since the first trade isn't even completed, but early speculation is that Alex Anthopoulos has his sights set on Cardinals' center fielder Colby Rasmus. If A.A. can pull off this deal, he deserves major kudos.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the White Sox are in "serious talks" about a deal that would send Edwin Jackson and Mark Teahen to the Blue Jays for Jason Frasor and a prospect. It's an odd fit for the Blue Jays at first glance, as they aren't contending and Jackson projects to be a Type B free agent this winter. In other words, Toronto may not be his last stop before the trade deadline. Teahen is set to make $5.5 million in 2012 while Frasor has a $3.75 million club option for next season. According to Rosenthal, the White Sox have also made John Danks and Gavin Floyd available.

White Sox general manager Ken Williams said prior to Monday's game that he could opt to "turn over the entire roster" if the team continues to fade in the American League Central. "On one hand, you can look toward potentially adding (players)," explained Williams. "We'd have to add creatively because of the financial situation right now. And on the other hand, maybe this is the most opportune time to turn over the entire roster and get some young, exciting players in here and go that route." Williams said he has deals in place to blow up the roster, but added that no trades were imminent. We've heard Matt Thornton, Edwin Jackson and Carlos Quentin pop up in trade rumors recently, though Williams said reports of a deal that would send Thornton and/or Jackson to the Cardinals for center fielder Colby Rasmus are "incorrect."

Making what could be his final start for the White Sox on Sunday, Edwin Jackson held the Indians to two runs on five hits and three walks in six innings of Chicago's 4-2 victory. He struck out three. Looking the most likely of Chicago's starters to be dealt ahead of next Sunday's deadline, Jackson is now the owner of a 3.92 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 97/39 K/BB ratio through his first 19 starts and 121 2/3 innings this season. Certainly not glistening numbers, but he should still be able to fetch a decent haul for the White Sox.

Saturday's game between the White Sox and Indians was postponed due to rainy weather in Cleveland. The White Sox were planning to throw Edwin Jackson against the Indians' David Huff. Justin Masterson will start for the Tribe on Sunday and Huff will be skipped. Jackson will take the mound Sunday for Chicago.

Edwin Jackson tossed a complete game shutout in a 5-0 win over the Tigers on Saturday. Jackson was efficient, needing just 101 pitches for his first complete game since his no-hitter against the Rays last June 25. He gave up nine hits (seven of them singles) while striking out two and walking two. His ERA is back under 4.00 (3.97) for the first time since mid-April. He'll try to keep it rolling with a start against the first-place Indians next week.
