According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, the White Sox are "fielding calls" on right-hander Edwin Jackson.
The White Sox are set to open the second half of the season with six starters, so they do have a surplus. Of course, they remain in contention in the American League Central, so White Sox general manager Ken Williams will likely look for a deal that will put him in position to get major-league talent in return. The 27-year-old Jackson is set to become a free agent following the season.

Edwin Jackson took a loss after giving up four runs in seven innings against the Royals on Wednesday.
When Jackson gets into trouble, it's often because of one bad inning. Today, though, the Royals scored one run apiece in four frames. As a result, Jackson enters the All-Star break 5-7 with a 4.30 ERA. He's going to need a better second half if he expects to land a four-year deal as a free agent this winter.

Edwin Jackson was brilliant over seven innings Friday, holding the Nationals scoreless on five hits and two walks while striking out eight.
Both starting pitchers deserved better fate in this one, as Jackson and Jordan Zimmermann each tossed seven shutout innings but neither picked up a win. The inconsistent Jackson has overall been pretty good since the start of May, posting a 3.09 ERA, but that's also come with three starts where he gave up a total of 14 runs. He'll take a 4.13 ERA and 1.48 WHIP into his next start against the Rockies.

Edwin Jackson took a loss to his former team after giving up four runs in 6 2/3 innings against the Diamondbacks on Friday night.
Jackson struck out eight and walked none, but he gave up two runs in the first and two in the seventh, the last two coming because he couldn't retire Daniel Hudson with two outs in the frame. He's now 4-6 with a 4.47 ERA, and one wonders if he might be pulled from the rotation to make room for Jake Peavy.
